Jonathan Howard, who plays a role in Coronation Street, has suggested that more than one character might die during the show’s upcoming ‘murder week’.
Back in February, a flashforward teased that one of five cobbles villains would meet their maker.
Carl Webster, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh, and Jodie Ramsey are all facing potential job losses.
Jonathan, the actor who plays Carl, hinted that future episodes will be a bit unexpected and that each of the five potential victims has done something to warrant facing consequences.
He said: ‘It’s very cinematic and all the storylines come to a head.
The show has plenty of surprises, and we hope audiences will be satisfied with how the mystery of who dies is ultimately revealed.
He told The Mirror that all five villains will be in a difficult and exposed position at the end, and it’s not certain who, if anyone, will be eliminated.
Jonathan shared that he’s been pleased with how fans have responded to his character, Carl, and his villainous actions, explaining, ‘It’s great to see my character making a difference.’
Corrie has been keeping viewers in the dark about the murder mystery, but online fans believe they’ve already found a significant clue.
I just saw Jonathan post a fun selfie on Instagram! He was with some of the other guys from the show – Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, Vinta Morgan as Ronnie Bailey, and Michael Le Vell, everyone knows him as Kevin Webster. It was great to see them all together!
He captioned the update: ‘Sun finally came out to say hello on the cobbles today…’
Because Jonathan appeared to still be filming scenes on the street, many fans thought Carl couldn’t be the person who was murdered.
One wrote: ‘Oh, so one less murder victim suspect. I’m pleased.’
Another penned: ‘Ooo… Carl isn’t the one who ends up dead on the 23rd then…’
A third shared: ‘Oooooo Carl doesn’t die!’
While a fourth chimed in: ‘Well I’m guessing Carl doesn’t die!! Spoiler alert lol.’
As I’ve been discussing, the recent episode opened with a really gripping scene – a police interview taking place on April 23rd. It immediately set a tense and intriguing tone, and I think it was a brilliant way to start things off.
Still dressed in her wedding outfit after her mother Lisa married Carla Connor, Betsy Swain shocked police by reporting she’d found a body – someone she knew.
Betsy explained that she was at a wedding but had been heading into town when she found the body.
Fans were disappointed by a recent plot twist in which two characters discovered they were cousins, calling it ‘underwhelming’ despite high expectations for a reveal about a potential murder victim.
Last October, fans were left wondering what Maggie Driscoll had found at Ken Barlow’s house. She noticed something that caught her eye, leaving the storyline on a suspenseful note.
I was completely stunned when I found out what Maggie saw! Apparently, she came across a photograph that unveiled a really shocking secret about her family – it was a total game-changer, and I can’t believe she had to find out that way.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen how family secrets can unexpectedly surface, and it’s rarely pretty. Recently, a woman named Maggie had a really tough moment with her son, Ben. During an argument, she accidentally revealed a huge shock: Ben’s father wasn’t who he believed him to be. She’d actually discovered this some time before, spotting a photo of Ben’s biological father at a friend’s house – a friend who was actually Ben’s real dad – and realizing the truth. It was a painful revelation to share, and a really difficult situation for everyone involved.
Maggie had been holding onto a secret for months, ever since Halloween. But when she found out Ben’s son, Ollie, was dating Amy Barlow, she realized she had to tell everyone – because it meant Ollie and Amy were actually cousins.
Maggie unexpectedly walked in on Ollie and Amy kissing and shocked them by revealing they were related and couldn’t continue dating.
Okay, so the big reveal? It didn’t quite land with the audience, and honestly, I get it. A lot of viewers felt like the whole thing lacked impact – they were expecting a much bigger reaction, a real ‘wow’ moment, and it just didn’t deliver. They felt all that build-up didn’t really lead to anything particularly shocking or exciting, and I think that’s a valid point. It’s all about payoff, and sometimes it just misses the mark.
The reveal of who Maggie is and how people reacted to it didn’t really live up to expectations. Even just seeing her discover something in the cupboard on Halloween created more suspense.
The ending with Steve and the card was really confusing; it turns out Ben discovered Steve is his half-brother, but honestly, most of us already suspected it.
I’m glad it wasn’t a long process, though I didn’t anticipate it being released so quickly. It feels hurried and disorganized, like they just wanted to get the story out there. I wonder if this means one of the episodes won’t be shown now?
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
