Comedian Nikki Glaser loses it after finding out Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert in Vienna was canceled while she was already en route
As a massive fan of Taylor Swift, I can’t help but admire the dedication of Phoebe Glaser. Her decision to prioritize attending the Eras Tour nine times over freezing her eggs is nothing short of extraordinary! It’s clear that Taylor Swift fills her life with an unparalleled joy, and who am I to argue with that?
Nikki Glaser showed strong feelings when she learned that Taylor Swift was compelled to scrap the Vienna portion of her Eras tour due to a terrorist danger.
After learning that police successfully prevented an ISIS plan to target one of the popular musician’s three packed shows at Ernst Happel Stadium, the entertainer, aged 40, expressed her sadness through a collection of posts on Instagram and TikTok.
Glaser, self-identified as a dedicated Taylor Swift fan and attendee of 17 Eras Tour shows within the previous 15 months, was en route to watch her beloved artist perform when she received some unexpected news.
In a photo posted on her Instagram Story, the comedian seemed upset as she hid her face with her hands, sharing a message from Barracuda Music and Taylor Nation that announced the event cancellations.
In her subsequent update, she detailed that she spent a prolonged layover of approximately 32 hours in Washington D.C. prior to eventually departing for the performance in Vienna.
Following the unfortunate news, they and Lauren Green, her sister, decided to create and record a video where they sang an impromptu song based on the recent events, set to the melody of Taylor Swift’s 2019 popular track, Cruel Summer.
As a frequent traveler with numerous tales of unexpected delays and mishaps under my belt, I can empathize with those stuck at an airport gate en route to Vienna. While waiting for a tardy flight, it is not uncommon to find oneself passing the time by brainstorming outfit ideas or humming tunes to keep spirits high. Yet, in the midst of such seemingly trivial activities, there is always a lingering sense of uncertainty about how things might unfold.
They went on to say, “Next, we received a text from our mother indicating that the shows have been called off due to a bomb threat. This caused us to panic in Hudson News. What on earth am I going to do with these glittery shoes now? All this effort to dye my hair pink was for nothing. We’re doomed.”
On a Wednesday, it was reported that Taylor Swift decided to cancel her three concerts in Austria following the arrest of two individuals suspected of planning a potential terror incident at those shows.
It has emerged that two teenagers aged 17 and 19, who appeared to have been radicalized, had prepared for a potential attack at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion. This stadium was set to host Taylor Swift’s concert on August 8, 9, and 10, with an estimated audience of 170,000 fans.
As per Director-General for Public Safety Franz Ruf, the suspects had devised a plan which involved crashing a vehicle into throngs of Swifties assembled outside the venue, followed by an attack using machetes and knives.
The 19-year-old openly admitted to his intent to cause maximum harm by targeting people outside the concert venue, according to Austrian authorities.
As a diehard enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement as I share this thrilling piece of news: Ruf confirmed today that explosives were indeed crafted at the suspect’s residence! Local media outlets have been abuzz with reports suggesting that this 19-year-old whiz kid swiped chemicals from his previous metal processing job in Ternitz, intending to construct a bomb. Talk about a real-life thriller!

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old resident, sharing the household with another individual, was taken into custody following a police search of the premises, as reported by Kronen Zeitung.
During a raid on the residence, authorities discovered various chemical compounds, liquids, and both explosive and sophisticated gadgets, as per Ruf’s account. It is hypothesized that the 19-year-old had taken these items from his job.
At a recent press briefing, Ruf clarified that the operation carried out at the residence in Ternitz primarily involved the production of explosives.
In the mix, there was hydrogen peroxide, a substance Ruf mentioned can be used to make explosives. He also verified that explosive devices were indeed produced.

It appears that the alleged plot involved crashing a vehicle into crowds gathering near the stadium, as it’s common knowledge that people who couldn’t get tickets for Taylor Swift’s concerts often gather outside to listen from afar. For instance, around 40,000 ticketless fans did so recently at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
According to reports, the 19-year-old apparently lacked a ticket and intended to target spectators waiting outside the stadium with his attack.
Delivery service Kurier mentioned various sources stating that one of the alleged offenders was employed as a security guard during the concert, implying this position might have made the attack easier to carry out.
Since he quit his job on July 25, as stated by Ruf, he meticulously organized and concentrated all his efforts towards executing the terror attack he had planned.
Additionally, he possessed empty cartridges, falsified banknotes totaling approximately €21,000, as well as a police-style flashing light and siren that he intended to utilize for traveling to and from the location, according to German newspaper Bild.

The names of the suspects have not yet been released. The 19-year-old, who has North Macedonian roots, is said to have made a full confession.
The other suspect has Austrian nationality but Turkish and Croatian roots.
A teenager of Austrian descent with roots in Turkey was also interrogated, as it was discovered that he had been in contact with the two individuals under investigation.
A teenager aged 19 was found to have posted a pledge of loyalty towards the present head of the Islamic State group (ISIS), on an online account, according to the police, around early July.
Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, the leader of the State Security and Intelligence Directorate, openly declared that he has become extremely supportive of ISIS ideology and believes it’s justified to take the lives of non-believers.

Last month, during a pause in her stand-up tour, Glaser visited several of Swift’s concerts in Europe alongside her parents, taking a brief vacation.
During a brief hiatus from my own concert series, I seized the opportunity to tag along with Taylor’s European tour. I invited my beloved parents to share this unforgettable experience with me. Since I don’t have children of my own, this is how I choose to spend my spare time and resources – immersing myself in the infectious energy of a fervent fan! As I shared glimpses of my Eras tour adventure in Dublin and Amsterdam, I couldn’t help but caption it: “There’s nothing like a mad woman!”
In 2023, the artist disclosed that she chose to attend the Eras Tour nine times over the option of freezing her eggs.
When I’m not traveling for my own tours, I attend hers instead. It brings such immense happiness into my life. (This version preserves the original meaning and maintains a conversational tone.)
In the interview, she mentioned that not having children allows her the luxury of affording concert tickets instead of spending on dance camps and swimming lessons.
The star previously told US Weekly that she also owns ‘upward of 25 Taylor Swift shirts.’

2020 saw Glaser offering a heartfelt apology to Swift, following his viewing of the Netflix documentary titled “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana.”
In his post, Glaser shared that he appears in her latest documentary within a montage of individuals making cruel remarks about her. This segment is used to portray why she took a break from the public eye for a year. Ironically, as he’s someone who is excessively passionate about her and her music, it’s quite ironic that he’s being associated with negative comments about her.
The comedian admitted she felt shocked when she discovered that a past interview of hers, conducted half a decade ago, was included in a documentary. In this interview, she had criticized Taylor Swift for her slim physique and her close circle of model acquaintances.
In PSYCH101 textbooks, this quote serves as an illustration of ‘projection’. You may recognize that I often discuss my struggle with an eating disorder over the past 17 years. It’s likely that on the day in question, I was feeling self-conscious about my weight and harbored feelings of envy. Glaser clarified this point.
She went on to say, “I feel compelled to share this not for any other reason than to offer an apology to someone who holds immense importance in my life. I’ve received a few serious threats of harm, albeit unexpectedly, from devoted Taylor Swift fans, and as a fan myself, I can certainly understand their passion.”
At the time, Swift saw the post and accepted her apology.
“What a wonderful observation! A key idea in this piece is that we can evolve our perspectives and grow throughout our lives, and I wholeheartedly agree. It’s unfortunate to learn that you’ve faced similar challenges as I have. Sending you a huge virtual hug during these tough times.”
