Coachella 2026: 4 differences between Weekend 1 and 2

Coachella’s second weekend starts Friday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and there are a few changes from the first weekend – most noticeably, the grass on the fields is a bit more worn down.

Anyma’s world premiere is back on track

Italian electronic music artist Anyma had planned to premiere his “Æden” show last Friday at the Indio festival. Advertisements for the midnight performance on the main stage were even posted along the 10 Freeway. However, strong winds caused the entire show to be canceled.

I was really bummed to find out Anyma couldn’t perform at Coachella. The festival announced it on their app early Saturday morning, explaining that strong winds were making it unsafe to set up his stage. They said it was a joint decision between Coachella and Anyma, and everyone’s safety was the main concern.

Anyma is scheduled to perform again this Friday, and currently, there are no wind warnings predicted for that night.

In 2026, the festival will mark its 25th anniversary, growing from a local event into a huge international celebration of music and art.

A different surprise set

The initial schedule for Weekend 1 showed Jack White performing in the Mojave Tent on Saturday afternoon. This week’s updated schedule revealed that Kacey Musgraves would be the surprise performer in the Mojave Tent at the same time – from 3:00 to 3:50 p.m. on Saturday. Musgraves previously performed at Coachella in 2019 and has also played at Stagecoach, Coachella’s country music festival.

Over the past 25 years, five artists and studios have created the iconic look of the Coachella festival, designing everything from yearly posters to massive installations like the 57-foot-tall astronaut sculptures.

More lineup tweaks

Kacey Musgraves isn’t the only artist with a different performance schedule for this weekend. The group Quasar will also have a new lineup for Weekend 2, featuring Darco, Franky Rizardo, and a set by Armin van Buuren and Adam Beyer on Friday. Saturday’s performances include Devault, Madeon, a collaboration between DJ Snake, RL Grime, and Flosstradamus, and another DJ Snake set with Knock2. On Sunday, you can catch Linska, LP Giobbi, and Sara Landry’s Blood Oath. All of these sets will be available to watch on the YouTube livestream.

As per usual, the Do Lab lineup is different each weekend, but those performances are not streamed.

Rezz had to cancel her performance in the Sahara Tent on Saturday night at Coachella due to health issues. She announced the cancellation earlier this week, and instead of finding a replacement, the festival is simply adjusting the set times for other artists.

The festival will feature some new artists this weekend, as is typical. One of them is DJ Bad Gal Gali from Palm Springs, who will kick things off at the Sahara Tent on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Set times have been slightly adjusted, but the biggest change is that Friday night’s headliner, Sabrina Carpenter, will have an additional 10 minutes on stage. This allows her to potentially add a new song to her set or bring out a surprise guest.

From its start as a small desert festival, Coachella has grown into a huge influence on pop culture. Take a look back at some of its most memorable moments, featuring performances by Daft Punk and Beyoncé, the famous Coachella astronaut, and more.

Changes to the livestream

As a huge music fan, I’m excited to share some great news for anyone watching Coachella from home this year – those of us enjoying ‘Couch-ella’! YouTube’s livestream for Weekend 2 is leveling up. They’re adding the Yuma Tent to the broadcast, which is fantastic news for house and techno lovers like myself. It’s replacing the Sonora Tent from Weekend 1, which had a bit more of a rock focus. So, if you’re into electronic music, Weekend 2’s stream is definitely the one to watch!
