Clash Royale’s Merge Tactics is getting a major update with Season 7! Starting February 23rd and lasting until April 13, 2026, the new season will be longer than previous ones. It also introduces the ability to play with friends as a party, a new Ruler character, and, for the first time, Equipment Modifiers to enhance your cards.

Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 7 Update explained

Starting with Season 7, each season of Merge Tactics will now last six to seven weeks. This gives you more time to improve your rank, collect Ruler Cards, and compete on the leaderboards without feeling rushed. Because of this change, the next season will begin in April instead of March.

Party Up and Play With Friends

Merge Tactics now lets you create Parties with your friends! You can invite them to play together and the person who creates the Party can manage who’s in it – including removing players if necessary.

When you play with a duo, both players get Starsteel and rewards after battles. To keep things fair, you won’t see who you’re up against beforehand. How much Starsteel you gain or lose depends on each player’s league and the difference in their current Starsteel amounts.

If one player wins while the other loses, some finishing positions could negate Starsteel’s benefits. However, daily rewards are still calculated separately for each player based on how they place in battles.

The Starsteel distribution for a Party of 2 battles works as follows:

Battle Rank Combination Starsteel Outcome
1st & 2nd Both gain 1st place Starsteel
1st & 3rd 0 (cancels out)
1st & 4th 1st: 0, 4th: Lose Starsteel
2nd & 3rd 0 (cancels out)
2nd & 4th 2nd: 0, 4th: Lose Starsteel
3rd & 4th Both lose Starsteel per rank

Groups of three or four players can engage in friendly practice battles. These battles don’t award Starsteel or other rewards, as they are purely for fun and practice.

New Ruler: Dagger Duchess

In Season 7, a new Ruler named Dagger Duchess is being introduced. Her special ability, Dagger Donation, gives players a Dagger item at the beginning of each battle. Players can then attach this Dagger to any of their troops, boosting both their attack range and how quickly they attack.

The Dagger works like other equipment and will wear down with use, just like other items. You can earn special cosmetic rewards for the Dagger Duchess by progressing on the Starsteel Road’s Ruler Reward Track and collecting her Ruler Cards. These rewards include:

  • Disguised Duchess
  • Daring Daggers
  • Duchess of Hearts

You can get the Crystalline Duchess skin and Crystalized Conquest confetti in the Ruler Skin Shop in Merge Tactics. If you buy this skin, you’ll also instantly unlock Dagger Duchess.

A new look for Goblin Queen, called ‘Serpentine Queen,’ is now available in the shop, along with ‘Slithering Siege’ confetti. You can still collect cards to keep the Spirit Empress skin by playing on Starsteel Road.

Season 7 adds two new 3-Elixir troops.

March Equipment Modifiers

Starsteel Road adds Equipment Modifiers to the game. At the beginning of each battle, a single Equipment item will appear below your troop selection area. You can then click and drag this item onto one of your troops during the preparation phase to apply its effect.

Every piece of Equipment wears down and will eventually break after being used a certain number of times. Troops can only hold one piece of Equipment at a time, but you can change which Equipment they’re carrying during the Preparation Phase.

Equipment League Effect
Valkyrie’s Axe Bronze III Deals area damage for 5 hits
Fisherman’s Hook Silver II Pulls the farthest enemy within 4 tiles (1 use)
