Chris Pratt reported that the recent severe storms in Hawaii damaged a set used for the Jurassic World movies.
The actor, age 46, who was in the original movie from 2015, said that a building where he filmed over ten years ago was damaged by the recent, severe Kona low storms.
He revealed the news while having fun playing a game with his Super Mario Bros. Movie co-star, Charlie Day, during their film’s promotional tour.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he was shown a picture of himself as Owen Grady, riding a motorcycle while training velociraptors.
Upon seeing the photo, he said: ‘Can I tell you something about this?’
He explained that his friend, Jason Morgan, who lives on the ranch, texted him about a storm yesterday. A tree fell and damaged the set that was used as Owen’s bungalow in the movie.
He mentioned the location in Oahu where they filmed the movie years ago was destroyed yesterday. It had recently been severely damaged by rainstorms, which caused flooding and landslides.
He apologized to Jason, mentioning that Jason is the son of John Morgan, who runs Kualoa Ranch—a large, 4,000-acre nature reserve and cattle ranch on Oahu’s windward side.
About a week ago, Jason Momoa, the actor known for playing Aquaman, shared that he and his family had to leave their home on Oahu due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
‘I got my family. We got out of the North Shore,’ he shared on Instagram in late March.
We lost power, but thankfully we’re okay. We’re thinking of everyone who’s been affected and sending them our best.
He mentioned that conditions on the North Shore are currently very dangerous, and he hopes everyone is being careful and staying safe.
He recently posted a video on Instagram explaining that he’s collaborating with Kirk Hammett, Metallica’s lead guitarist, to collect donations for those impacted by the disaster.
Following the recent devastating floods in Hawaii – the worst in over twenty years – they’re organizing a benefit concert on April 23rd.
Governor Josh Green said on March 22nd that the recent heavy rain and flash floods have caused around $1 billion in damage across the islands.
In 2015, Chris Pratt filmed Jurassic World in Hawaii, alongside actors like Bryce Dallas Howard and Nick Robinson, using the islands of Oahu and Kauai as their set.
They filmed at the Kualoa Ranch, the Honolulu Zoo and did studio work in Louisiana.
The movie’s sets were constructed at the deserted Six Flags New Orleans theme park and the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility.
