Chris Evans’ sci-fi action movie, a big success in theaters 12 years ago, is popular again now thanks to streaming. Many know Evans best as Captain America, a role he’s played in Marvel movies for the past fifteen years.
This 2014 science fiction thriller is set in a frozen future after a failed effort to combat climate change plunged the world into a new ice age. The last of humanity lives aboard a perpetually moving train, segregated by social class. While the wealthy enjoy comfort, those in the lower classes endure harsh conditions. One man sparks a revolt, traveling to the front of the train and revealing disturbing secrets about the survival of humankind.
The movie Snowpiercer, based on the French graphic novel by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette, is a thrilling film that offers a warning about climate change while also exploring issues of social inequality, control, and how people fight to survive. It’s recently gained popularity on streaming services, and is currently the most-watched movie on Pluto TV in the US.
Chris Evans Calls ‘Snowpiercer’ a “Great Experience”
Directed by the acclaimed Bong Joon-ho – who later found massive success with the Oscar-winning film Parasite – Snowpiercer marks his first feature film in English. The film boasts a stellar cast including Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Go Ah-sung, John Hurt, and Ed Harris.
In a recent interview with Collider, Chris Evans discussed his positive experience making Snowpiercer. He praised the director’s strong vision and how much he enjoyed working with the talented cast, including Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, and the late John Hurt. He described the set as a truly great environment.
Bong Joon-ho is an incredibly talented director. What makes his filmmaking so special is his approach to shooting. Typically, a movie scene is filmed with a wide shot first, then individual shots of each actor, and then the entire scene again. The editor then pieces it all together to create the pacing. But Bong meticulously plans everything out with detailed storyboards, essentially editing the film in his head before shooting even begins. It’s a remarkably clever and almost unbelievably effective process.
The success of Snowpiercer is evident: it boasts a 94% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has received numerous awards. This makes it a thrilling series well worth watching on Pluto TV.
