Chicago PD season 12 is taking its first break of the season

As a dedicated fan of “One Chicago,” I must admit that this brief hiatus in the airing of “Chicago PD” has left me feeling like a lost soul wandering the streets of Chicago without my favorite squad. However, I’ve been down this road before, and I know the drill – it’s just a temporary goodbye.

The broadcast of One Chicago is taking a brief hiatus. Starting from the 2024-2025 season, Chicago PD and the other two series will be going on their initial break.

It’s disheartening for fans, but it’s not uncommon. The positive aspect is that we have a definite timeline for the hiatus, and we know what to anticipate.

Chicago PD is only off for a week

On October 30th, there will be no fresh installment of our series. However, rest assured that it’s just a short break of one week. The exciting news is the next episode trailer was released immediately following Episode 5. We can expect another episode on November 6th.

In the upcoming episode, there’s positive news about Burgess potentially getting promoted to the role of detective. We had a feeling this might be coming since Burgess was absent for a few episodes attending a conference, and Martel hinted that this conference could pave the way for such a promotion.

Nevertheless, it’s evident that there’s an obstacle to overcome: Burgess must complete a ride-along to demonstrate her detective qualifications. Despite our confidence in her abilities, this step can still be nerve-wracking, as one misstep could postpone the realization of dreams. We anticipate that this case won’t follow the usual pattern.

Why is Chicago PD taking a break?

Naturally, fans are curious about the reasons for the pause. It’s always disheartening when a new episode doesn’t surface.

NBC must organize 22 episodes of their television series over a nine-month period, accommodating both autumn premieres and spring finales. Consequently, planned pauses occur throughout this span, and NBC carefully plans these interruptions.

As a gamer, I’ve found myself in a similar situation when it comes to my favorite game series. Although some levels have been pre-produced, the entire game hasn’t been developed as seamlessly as what we usually see with online or offline games. This means that the levels already released might sync up with the ones ready for release, resulting in unexpected pauses in the progression.

This pause might encompass aspects of both problems, yet it seems to be primarily connected to the scheduling for May’s finales, given that a promotional material has been released already.

Chicago PD airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
