Charles Leclerc and Chivas Regal Debut a 16-Year Whisky Built From the Ground Up

Chivas Regal is boosting its presence in the worlds of sports and culture with a special new whisky, created in partnership with Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc. Unveiled in Miami before the Grand Prix, this limited-edition release is the first 16-year-old blend connected to Leclerc, and importantly, the first time he’s been involved in the creation process, rather than just representing the brand. This collaboration marks Chivas Regal’s deliberate move into motorsport, centered around a significant number from Leclerc’s racing career.

The project started with a creative challenge: Leclerc asked Chivas Regal’s Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, to develop a completely unique whisky. Their collaboration and experimentation led to the final result – a blend of 16 whiskies, all aged at least 16 years. The blend is particularly defined by the rich flavor from whiskies matured in sherry casks, especially those from Longmorn. Leclerc wasn’t just a figurehead; he actively participated by traveling to Scotland, exploring various flavor combinations, and ultimately guiding the whisky’s development.

Charles Leclerc, Chivas Regal’s Global Brand Ambassador, explained that the number 16 holds special meaning for him throughout his career. Visiting Scotland and learning about the dedication that goes into making Chivas Regal inspired him to develop his own unique blend. He believes, as Chivas Regal does, that today’s achievements are simply a foundation for future success. Working with the Chivas team, particularly Sandy, allowed for a collaborative process where they challenged each other and ultimately created something exceptional – Chivas Regal 16 – a natural progression of their partnership.

Now available across the country for $69.99, this new spirit boasts a complex and inviting flavor – starting with bright mandarin and honey, then finishing with notes of toasted oak and spice. More than just a delicious drink, this launch marks the beginning of a luxury brand campaign featuring Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, who will be actively involved in both the campaign and the product’s development.
