Adrian Portelli has launched his first petrol station, and the opening was predictably lively and a bit hectic.
An Australian billionaire celebrated the opening of his new LMCT+ location in Preston, Victoria, on Wednesday night. Hundreds of fans came to meet him in person.
Even though the gas station wasn’t open yet, people still formed long lines – but for the food available. The Daily Mail reported that attendees were frustrated by the long waits and were left hungry.
Fans of the luxury car brand gathered in their powerful muscle cars, crowding the road in front of the new service station. Many drivers revved their engines and performed tire-spinning maneuvers.
Security personnel had to ask a driver to move along when he remained stopped at a green light, revving his engine and obstructing traffic.
Oh my gosh, it was insane! Mr. Portelli was completely swarmed by us fans for hours – it was the best! And then, like he always does, he did one of his legendary giveaways! I can’t even explain how exciting it was to be there, just being near him is a dream come true, and the giveaway was the cherry on top!
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Portelli just made someone’s DREAM come true! Some random person, just going about their day at a gas station, walked away with a MILLION dollars! A MILLION! It was all thanks to Portelli being unbelievably generous, and honestly, it’s just the kind of thing I’d expect from them. I’m so jealous of that lucky person, but mostly just thrilled for them and for Portelli being so amazing!
In December 2025, the 37-year-old plans to add a petrol station to his LMCT+ rewards program, which operates on a subscription basis.
Portelli told Daily Mail he wants to help his community by providing affordable gas during Australia’s current shortages.
‘Yeah, look, I’m gonna do what I can to relieve that,’ Portelli said of the country’s fuel crisis.
I value my long-time customers and I’m happy to absorb some financial loss to help them through this difficult period.
Portelli admitted his current low prices would probably cost him money, but he plans to increase them eventually.
I just wanted to express our gratitude. However, we will eventually need to raise prices, but we’ll continue to offer wholesale fuel pricing.
After fighting began in the Middle East and Iran blocked ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, fuel prices in Australia quickly doubled. Some gas stations even ran out of fuel.
Even before the current fuel crisis started, Portelli announced his gas stations would sell fuel at lower prices, and his first location has now opened in Melbourne.
In December, LMCT+ announced that Adrian had purchased fuel directly to offer members a significant discount, as major fuel companies were unwilling to provide lower prices.
Look out for LMCT+ petrol stations appearing across Australia starting next year.
Last week, Portelli announced that the first of the new petrol stations will open in about two weeks. The first location will be a converted Shell station at the corner of Gower Street and Plenty Road in Preston, a suburb approximately 10 kilometers north of downtown Melbourne.
He announced online that they have just two weeks left! He said it feels unreal to watch his vision become reality, and he even got a little emotional seeing the LMCT+ logo displayed so prominently.
Addressing concerns about the limited availability of E85, caused by the situation in the Middle East, Portelli assured people that they would be able to find it at their location in some capacity.
Many Australians praised Portelli for opening his service station, and some playfully suggested he was better at finding fuel during the shortage than Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
‘Bro can you replace Albo,’ one wrote.
‘This is awesome!’ another said.
However, some people questioned whether LMCT+ should be expanding, largely because the company is best known for running lotteries.
It looks like these contests are being offered at the new gas stations, which feature a ‘Rewards Hub’ where customers can participate.
One person questioned why gambling is becoming so prevalent, saying, “I’m fine with growth, but constantly presenting opportunities for kids to ‘win’ something is a really bad influence.”
You can join a waitlist for LMCT+ fuel on the company’s website, but there’s no confirmed date for when it will be available at gas stations.
Portelli, from Melbourne, has an estimated worth of $1.4 billion.
Okay, let’s talk about how this individual built his fortune. A big part of it came from a business – LMCT+ – that, frankly, found a clever way to work within the rules of gambling regulations. It wasn’t traditional gambling, if you will. Beyond that, he was also a savvy real estate investor and, let’s be honest, had a serious passion for collecting supercars – which likely appreciated in value as well! It was a combination of financial strategy and enjoying the finer things in life.
