Channing Tatum shares snap from hospital as he reveals he’s undergone surgery for ‘separated’ shoulder and says recovery ‘is gonna be hard’

Channing Tatum recently had surgery to repair a separated shoulder, and he shared a picture from his hospital stay.

The 45-year-old actor shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram Wednesday, showing him in a hospital gown. He said his recovery would be challenging.

Oh my gosh, he actually posted his X-rays! Can you believe it? He showed the before-and-after of his shoulder surgery on his Story. It was so him to caption it ‘Separated shoulder’ and then, like, casually add ‘Screwed shoulder. Yay’?! It’s just…perfect. You could see the screw they put in his clavicle to fix it. I screenshotted it, obviously. It’s amazing and a little bit concerning, but mostly amazing because it’s him sharing something so personal!

A shoulder separation happens when the ligaments around the AC joint – where your collarbone and shoulder blade connect – are torn or stretched due to a fall or impact. This causes the collarbone and shoulder blade to move out of their normal position.

Channing shared a photo from the hospital with the caption: ‘Just another day, another tough challenge. But I’m ready to face it and get through this.’

This news follows a recent injury to the Deadpool & Wolverine actor while filming Avengers: Doomsday in London last year. It’s not the first injury he’s sustained on set.

In a September interview with Variety, he shared that he injured his leg, which meant he couldn’t perform some of the stunts planned for him, including a major fight scene with Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doctor Doom.

The actor, who is playing Gambit again in the next Marvel movie, shared that he faces a lengthy recovery, requiring several months of dedicated physical therapy.

He explained that it wasn’t the immediate discomfort that bothered him, but rather the realization that he couldn’t undo what had happened. He also said he now had a clear picture of what the next six months would hold.

He admitted he didn’t like the process of aging. ‘I feel like I’m still 30, or even 26, at heart,’ he said.

Channing received a lot of encouraging messages on his recent post, including one from football player Odell Beckham Jr. who wrote, ‘Prayers up soldier!’

Jamie Foxx, an Academy Award winner, sent encouraging words, saying ‘Prayers up, let’s go champ!’ and Emilio Rivera, known for his role in Sons of Anarchy, wished him a speedy recovery, saying ‘Get Better Soon’.

LaKeith Stanfield, who acted with Channing in last year’s movie Roofman, responded with a bicep emoji and a red heart.

Channing’s girlfriend, Inka Williams, also showed her support online, writing, ‘We got this!’

Okay, so I’ve been totally following this, and it’s amazing! It all started back in January, honestly. I saw pictures of them leaving a party in LA – the CAA pre-Oscars one, if you can believe it! – and I just knew something was happening. But it wasn’t until early March that they finally went public with their relationship, and honestly, I nearly screamed! They’re so perfect together, and I’ve been tracking every move since!

Inka publicly confirmed her relationship in March, telling the Herald Sun she felt like she was dating royalty – even better than the King of England! She expressed being very happy in the relationship.

The next month, she confirmed their relationship on Instagram by posting a sweet birthday message to Channing. The post included personal photos that hadn’t been shared before.

She wrote a loving message to someone she clearly adored, calling them the most handsome, kind, funny, and wonderful person ever. She thanked them for bringing joy and fun into her life, and expressed her strong affection with the French phrase ‘Jtm trop fort,’ meaning ‘I love you so much.’

He sweetly returned the gesture for her September birthday, posting a loving message with romantic photos and videos, and writing, ‘Happiest birthday to my love! Love you so much.’

He posted a sweet black-and-white photo of himself kissing Inka on the cheek, and a video of her happily jumping into the ocean. He captioned both with a playful message: ‘Love you stoopid’.

Oh my gosh, Channing was married to Jenna Dewan, you guys! They met while filming Step Up back in 2006 and it was just the cutest thing ever! They got married in 2009, and I was so happy for them. It was totally heartbreaking when they announced they were separating in 2018, I honestly couldn’t believe it. They seemed like the perfect couple!

I was really saddened to hear about their divorce, and it turned out to be a tough process. It dragged on for a long time, with lots of legal issues surrounding money and, most importantly, figuring out the best arrangements for their daughter, Everly, who’s twelve. It wasn’t until September 2024 that everything was finally settled.

Looking back on the divorce, Channing admitted it was likely a turning point for him. He believes he wouldn’t have focused on personal growth if he hadn’t gone through the process of figuring out his future after the split.

At the time, he confessed he doesn’t know if he’ll ever ‘get married again.’ 

I struggle with relationships. While I naturally lean towards being with one person at a time, I’m fearless when it comes to business risks. But when it involves people I care about, I get anxious and tend to overthink things, trying too hard to make everything work.

After her divorce, Jenna began a relationship with actor Steve Kazee. They now have two children together and got engaged in February 2020.

Channing Tatum then dated singer Jessie J from 2018 to 2020. Last year, she publicly alluded to their relationship in a song, calling him a ‘beast’ and suggesting he’d face consequences for his actions.

He dated actress Zoë, 35, for three years, and they were engaged for a year before unexpectedly ending their relationship and calling off their wedding in late October 2024.
