Catherine Zeta-Jones reveals why she doesn’t ‘schmooze’ Hollywood types but rather hangs with ‘finance, art people’ in NYC

Catherine Zeta-Jones wonders if moving away from Hollywood has negatively affected her career.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, 56, has talked about how living in New York City has changed her work and personal life. She’s been married to Michael Douglas, 81, for over 20 years, since 2000.

She recently told People magazine that she’s been reflecting on how living on the East Coast and being with Michael for so long might have affected her career. She finds it a curious thing to consider.

‘I never quite know, because I’ve never been in LA schmoozing.’

Jenna Ortega, known for her role in “Wednesday,” shared that her friendships are less about the typical Hollywood scene and more centered around professional connections, money matters, and artistic interests. She and her husband have two children: Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22.

You know, I actually find I’m spending more and more of my time connecting with folks in New York – people in business, those working on Wall Street, and creatives in the art world. It’s a really dynamic group!

‘Our friends and our people we bump into are different than I would be if I was in LA.

That doesn’t negatively affect Los Angeles or its residents; I just have a lot going on with different projects and commitments in the city.

Despite living in New York City, her career is thriving, with three projects lined up this year: The Gallerist, More Wednesday, and Kill Jackie.

The actress and her famous husband recently marked their 25th wedding anniversary, and she credits their shared values with helping them build a lasting marriage.

She explained to The Sunday Times that when two celebrities are involved, everything gets amplified – it’s as if their impact is ten times greater. She also noted there are always two sides to every story and a lot of speculation involved.

We don’t pay attention to negative or untrue things written about us. More importantly, we value our independence and personal freedom.

We have a lot in common – we share a birthday, exactly 25 years apart. Both of us are very open and honest with our feelings; we both wear our hearts on our sleeves, and that’s a good thing.

Last year she said she believes ‘we can all relate’ to the Addams family’s ‘dynamic.’

The actress portrays Morticia Addams in the popular Netflix series Wednesday, and she feels the Addams family is surprisingly relatable and based on real emotions.

As a huge fan of ‘Wednesday,’ I was so interested to hear the actress talk about the family relationships on the show. She explained to TODAY.com that’s one of its best parts – it feels so relatable because Tim Burton really wanted to keep the characters grounded and realistic. They aren’t over-the-top stereotypes; they’re people you can actually connect with, and that makes the family drama even more compelling.

Many people see Morticia as being very critical of Wednesday, but Catherine Zeta-Jones feels their relationship is more complex than it appears.

The actress explained that Morticia has a desire for Wednesday to be just like her, admiring the strength she sees in her daughter.

Wednesday shares traits and powers with Morticia’s unusual world, but she also possesses a rebellious spirit that Morticia lacked.

She heaped praise on Jenna Ortega, describing her co-star as ‘amazing’.

The actress praised Jenna’s professional approach to their sword fight scene on the show.

She explained to People that they practiced the scenes extensively, similar to rehearsing choreography or stunts. Safety is crucial, she emphasized, because they were using actual weapons.

The actress noticed her 22-year-old colleague prioritized finding time to rehearse and get ready for the scene, despite having a packed schedule.

Catherine Zeta-Jones explained that despite having a much busier schedule than her own, she made time to rehearse together. They then collaborated with the stunt coordinator, and the final result was fantastic.

Catherine also complimented Luis Guzman, who plays Gomez Addams, on his dedication to preparing for the role. The pair practiced a tango together, and Catherine explained that Luis put in a lot of effort. They would rehearse their scenes outdoors, even in the rain and on gravel, to keep the performance sharp. Since they weren’t filming those scenes immediately after learning the choreography—sometimes months later—they’d quickly run through the tango together to refresh their memories and have fun.
