A new monster movie tells the story of a family reunited with their daughter after eight years, only to find that her return brings terrifying consequences. The film, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, stars Jack Reynor, May Calamawy, Laia Costa, Natalie Grace, and Verónica Falcón.

Originally, the character of Katie, played by Amanda Walsh, was meant to contrast with Leonard and Sheldon’s naiveté, offering a more streetwise perspective. However, this didn’t work well with test audiences. Instead of creating comedic tension, it made Leonard and Sheldon seem pathetic and Katie appear unlikeable, leading viewers to root against her. As a result, the character was reworked into Penny, who went on to become a hugely popular sitcom character in the 2000s.

A clear example is the 2007 film The Golden Compass and HBO’s series His Dark Materials, both based on Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials books. The series is a definite improvement over the movie.

I think what really sets Big Mistakes apart is how much it reminds me of Schitt’s Creek. It’s clear the creator, Dan Levy, took what worked so well in that show and brought it here. Schitt’s Creek was funny because of the situation, sure, but it was the Rose family – how messed up but loving they were – that really grabbed us. That’s exactly what Big Mistakes does too; it’s all about a family you can’t help but root for, even when they’re making, well, big mistakes!

For years, One Piece has been incredibly popular within manga and anime communities, but it hasn’t quite broken into the mainstream like some other big franchises. That’s starting to change now, thanks to the success of the One Piece adaptation on Netflix. The show is introducing the series to a broader audience, which explains why it’s been so well-received, has strong viewership numbers, and is even being referenced in other television programs.
