The story centers around “Artificial Friends” – robots designed to be companions for children. We’re introduced to Klara, played by Jenna Ortega, who wonders if she’ll be a good fit for the child she’s assigned to. That child is Josie (Mia Tharia), but Josie’s mother, Chrissie (Amy Adams), isn’t immediately convinced, questioning, “Is this the one? She seems tired.”
