I first saw this movie back in 2014, and it really stuck with me. It’s set in a boarding school for girls in England, back in 1969, and it’s all about the intense friendship between two students, Lydia and Abbie. Things take a dark turn when something terrible happens, and then a really weird outbreak of fainting starts spreading through the school, and it starts to feel like everyone’s losing it – including Lydia herself.

Kristoffer Borgli, the director and writer of The Drama (who recently gained attention for a previously published essay), tells the story of Emma (Zendaya) and Charlie (Pattinson) as they approach their wedding day. While preparing for the event is already stressful, something unexpected happens that threatens their relationship and the marriage itself.

Jimmy McGovern created the TV movie and co-wrote it with Gillian Juckes. Sinéad Keenan, known for her role in Unforgotten, also stars in it.
