Since the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds in February 2025, Capcom has consistently provided updates and patches to maintain interest among both new and returning players. However, according to Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto, there’s more than just game optimization at play. Tsujimoto suggests that the high cost of the PlayStation 5 has impacted Monster Hunter Wilds in the months following its release.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but share some insights I picked up from an interview with President Tsujimoto. In that chat with Nikkei, Tsujimoto admitted that our beloved game Monster Hunter started off strong, selling over 10 million units within the first month post-release. However, he also mentioned that the momentum didn’t quite sustain in the following months. He believes part of the reason is down to cost-maybe we could have sold even more copies if it were a bit more affordable for gamers like us!
