It’s no hidden fact that Monster Hunter Wilds has been encountering performance problems. Despite drawing in millions of players worldwide, it’s currently in a critical condition, riddled with various bugs and optimization flaws. These persistent issues have caused its ratings on Steam to plummet, resulting in an astounding 98% decrease in its player base over time.
It wouldn’t be unexpected if you were taken aback when you learned that Capcom had scheduled a talk at this year’s CEDEC conference titled “Optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for Smooth Performance: Insights into Adjustments.” However, only a short while before the presentation was set to occur, it was suddenly and unexpectedly cancelled.
Capcom Cancels A Lecture About Optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds’ Performance

The CEDEC conference in Japan brings together computer entertainment developers to exchange game-related technology and insights over a span of three days. Approximately 200 sessions are held during this time. Notably, Capcom was slated to present one of the main talks this year, focusing on optimizing the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds. They intended to share their objectives and strategies. Regrettably, as reported by Automaton in Japan, that lecture has been called off without specifying a reason.
The talk, explaining Capcom’s challenging journey in creating Monster Hunter Wilds, was intended to delve into the past and clarify how we established a battleground where quality and performance often clash. It discussed the game from three aspects: CPU strain, GPU strain, and memory consumption. Its goal was to foster an understanding of ‘performance’ across the industry and help enhance the quality of games themselves.
Given the numerous issues many players have faced with the PC version of Monster Hunter World, it seems plausible that the company chose to withdraw to preserve their reputation. Although there is optimism that a second title update could enhance PC performance, this improvement may have come too late for Capcom to conduct another presentation.
Recently, Capcom felt compelled to address their approach towards customer harassment, an issue that seems to have escalated following the release of Wilds. In their statement, they expressed concern that such harassment could disrupt the serene work environment for all employees and potentially harm their well-being. They warned that in extreme instances, they might involve law enforcement or lawyers, taking legal action that could lead to criminal proceedings. This stance may have influenced their decision to withdraw from this year’s CEDEC event.
