Since its debut in comic books in May 1984, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has captivated audiences around the globe and sparked numerous spin-offs, including films, TV series, and collaborations with brands like Mattel and Pizza Hut. A recent and highly praised addition to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is a streaming show exclusive to Paramount+.
Fans are disappointed to learn that Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won’t return for a third season after only two seasons aired. But there’s good news: the story isn’t over! It will continue in a new comic book series coming soon.
Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Returns In A New Format
Fans loved the animated Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series on Paramount+, so they were surprised and disappointed when it was suddenly canceled. The show continued the story from the well-received 2024 movie, offering more adventures with Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. The story will continue in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coastal Chaos, building on what the series established.
The new movie is scheduled to come out in August 2027, and since the animated show was canceled, fans don’t have much to enjoy until then. Luckily, IDW Publishing announced a comic book series called Coastal Chaos. It’s created by Andrew Joustra and Louie Joyce – the same team behind a popular previous TMNT comic.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coastal Chaos Has A Release Date
Good news for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans! The first part of a new story will be available on September 9, 2026. Here’s what it’s about (according to the 32-page first issue):
Just when you thought things were calm, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back! This time, they’re visiting the Jersey Shore—and trouble quickly follows. What begins as a family vacation takes a chaotic turn when Mikey narrowly escapes an attack by a creature with huge teeth, a large fin, and… arms?! Looks like these turtles might need some extra protection.
Cover art of the first few issues has hinted at the introduction of a familiar character in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe: Armaggon, the time-traveling mutant shark who has appeared in previous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and the 2012 animated series that aired on Nickelodeon. The issue #2 synopsis confirmed that in the stories featured in the comic series, stating:”Sharks can sense a drop of blood in the water, and if the mutant shark Armaggon has his way, the Jersey Shore will run red!” Armaggon is a formidable adversary for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to take on, as evidenced by his previous villainous appearances in other projects the franchise has released.
The new comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coastal Chaos, will be released by IDW Publishing on September 9th. The first issue will cost $4.99 and can be bought at local comic stores or online.
