Camp Rock 3 is taking the stage after many years.
The Camp Rock series started as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2008. It helped launch the careers of future pop stars Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas. A sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, followed in 2010.
Disney+ has announced that Camp Rock 3 will be released in August. The official poster features the Jonas Brothers with their backs to the viewer, and the Disney Channel and Disney+ logos are displayed on Nick Jonas’ back.
The new movie, Camp Rock 3, will feature a reunion of the Jonas Brothers as their band, Connect 3. While Joe Jonas had the biggest part in the first Camp Rock, this next installment looks like all three brothers will share the spotlight. This reunion is expected to be a big attraction for the TV movie, bringing back fond memories of the Disney Channel Original Movies many grew up with.
The movie poster doesn’t feature Demi Lovato, even though she’s a producer on the film. While she might make a brief appearance, she won’t have a significant role in front of the camera.
Alyson Stoner, who played Caitlyn Geller in the original 2008 Camp Rock movie, won’t be back for the third film. She told E! News she hadn’t heard anything about the project after it was announced. However, Maria Canals-Barrera will reprise her role.
Rather than bringing back the original cast, Camp Rock 3 introduces a fresh group of actors, including Malachi Barton, Francis Burgos, Sherry Cola, Ava Jean, and Devielle Johnson. Veronica Rodriguez directs the movie, and Eydie Faye wrote the screenplay. Rodriguez is familiar with Disney Channel Original Movies, having worked on their 2023 film, The Slumber Party.
It’s been 16 years since Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam came out, so it will be interesting to see if a potential Camp Rock 3 can still capture audiences after all this time. Disney Channel has recently been revisiting older shows with sequels like Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, suggesting they might be open to continuing the Camp Rock story.
Camp Rock 3 will be the perfect opportunity to see if such risks are worth their while.
