Cameron Diaz was spotted on set of her new movie The Sham in New York City on Monday.
The actress, 53, was highlighting her natural appearance, having stopped using Botox a few years ago.
The actress, known for her role in Charlie’s Angels, came back to acting last year after a ten-year break and has often spoken about accepting the ageing process naturally, choosing not to have cosmetic surgery.
The experienced actress wore dramatic makeup – black eyeliner and red lipstick – as part of her costume for the movie, completing the look with a leopard print headband and gold hoop earrings.
She was spotted with her colleague Stephen Merchant, who wrote and directed their film – a story about a fake marriage that blossoms into a real relationship.
In the scene, she walked quickly down the street, looking worried and seeming to adjust her bag on her shoulder.
She later changed into a more casual outfit: a T-shirt, hoop earrings, and a cheetah-print headband worn over her loosely styled hair.
The naturally beautiful woman, known for her youthful appearance, combined a casual Coors T-shirt with a gray and striped tweed jacket and dark jeans, seemingly enjoying a playful moment with Merchant.
She was wearing dark-gray, wide-leg jeans and boots with a tartan pattern when she spoke with Merchant in the park.
The movie shoot happened soon after Cameron Diaz shared her feelings about not liking Botox or cosmetic surgery, explaining she’d rather age naturally following a bad experience with such procedures.
Looking back, I realized a while ago that I wasn’t thrilled with how Botox had altered my appearance. It led me to really simplify my makeup routine – I ditched the heavy stuff in my 40s and felt so much better for it! It’s all about embracing a more natural you, honestly.
‘I’ve tried [Botox] before, where it was like [a] little tiny touch of something,’ she recalled.
She explained to Entertainment Tonight in 2014 that the procedure drastically altered her appearance, and she immediately knew she didn’t want that result.
She added: ‘I’d rather see my face aging than a face that doesn’t belong to me at all.’
Someone familiar with Cameron Diaz’s situation shared that she felt pressured to maintain her youthful look, but disliked the way Botox altered her appearance, preferring to look natural.
According to an insider who spoke with OK Magazine, Cameron, like many others in her field, felt pressure to get cosmetic procedures like Botox.
She stopped using it years ago because she didn’t like how it altered her appearance, and it’s worked out well. She looks naturally beautiful, which is a refreshing change from many of her friends.
In Diaz’s current film, Merchant plays a British worker at a fancy New York hotel who urgently needs a wife to keep up appearances.
Diaz portrays a comedian down on his luck who needs health insurance and comes up with a plan to marry someone for convenience.
I have to admit, what started as a purely practical arrangement – a fake marriage for business reasons – quickly blossomed into something truly special. It was so unexpected, but they fell in love! It’s been amazing to watch their relationship develop from something completely artificial into a real romance.
Filming for the new Prime Video romantic comedy began in New York City last month, but it’s not known when it will be released.
