Broadway star June Squibb, 96, is an Oscar nominee who has worked with Brad Pitt and Al Pacino, see her now

June Squibb was spotted on a rare outing in Los Angeles over the past weekend.

The actress, nominated for an Academy Award and known for working with stars like Scarlett Johansson, smiled brightly as she got into a car.

The actress started her career performing on stage in the early 1950s, and eventually appeared on Broadway.

Her big screen debut took place years later in Woody Allen’s romantic comedy Alice (1990).

Squibb has acted with many famous actors, including Brad Pitt, Daniel Day-Lewis, Mia Farrow, and Al Pacino.

She’s received praise from critics for her acting, especially for her role in the 2013 film Nebraska, which earned her several award nominations, including a Golden Globe.

On their recent outing, Squibb dressed comfortably but fashionably in a bright red shirt and black pants.

She completed her look with a long gold necklace, then drove off in a silver truck to go to her next stop.

I’ve always been fascinated by Evelyn Squibb! She was born in Vandalia, Illinois, back in November 1929, and I discovered she eventually moved to Ohio in 1951. It’s wonderful to know she started her performing career at the renowned Cleveland Play House – a truly impressive beginning!

Her successful performances led to work on other New York City productions, including the off-Broadway musical The Boy Friend in 1958.

The next year, she stepped into the part of Electra in the Broadway show Gypsy at the Broadway Theatre.

Last year, in an interview with The Guardian, Squibb recalled being immediately captivated by the show, particularly praising Ethel Merman’s performance.

She was incredibly dynamic and captivating. I really enjoyed the show, and the chance to be a part of it was amazing! The song ‘You Gotta Get a Gimmick’ was a huge hit every single performance – it always energized the audience.

In 1968, Squibb went back to performing on Broadway in the musical The Happy Time, and continued to appear in other stage productions throughout the 1970s.

She recently appeared on Broadway in the play Marjorie Prime, alongside Cynthia Nixon, Danny Burstein, and Christopher Lowell.

The show began performances last December at the Helen Hayes Theater and finished its run last month on February 15th.

The story centers around Marjorie, an 86-year-old woman whose memories are fading. In this age of artificial intelligence, she has a new, attractive companion – a programmed AI designed to remind her of her life story.

‘What would we remember, and what would we forget, if given the chance?’ per Playbill.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times last year, actress Anna Kendrick talked about getting back to performing on stage and how much she loves acting.

I’ve always felt like I was born to be an actress. I never considered any other path for myself.

In 1985, she appeared in one episode of the CBS Schoolbreak Special.

Even after turning sixty, the actress continued to pursue her love of acting, making her film debut in Woody Allen’s 1990 movie, Alice.

In the 1990s, she continued acting in smaller roles in movies like ‘Scent of a Woman’ (1992), alongside Al Pacino and Chris O’Donnell.

The next year, Squibb was able to collaborate with Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, and Michelle Pfeiffer on the film The Age of Innocence.

In the 1998 film Meet Joe Black, she starred as Helen alongside Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins.

During the 2000s, Squibb appeared in small roles on television shows like Two and a Half Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ghost Whisperer, and Cold Case.

The actress portrayed the character Pearl for 23 episodes of the soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

In 2013, she appeared in the critically acclaimed film Nebraska, starring alongside Bruce Dern and Will Forte.

As a huge fan, I was thrilled to see Annette Bening get so much recognition for her performance! She earned Best Supporting Actress nominations from really important award shows like the Golden Globes, the Oscars, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards – it was so well-deserved.

She was cast in a leading role in Scarlett Johansson’s 2025 directorial debut Eleanor The Great.

Recent film projects include Toy Story 4, released in 2019, and upcoming movies like Thelma (2024), Inside Out 2 (2024), and Zootopia 2 (scheduled for 2025).

In an interview with AARP, actress Squibb talked about starting her acting career in movies and TV later in life.

When asked if she regretted not starting her career sooner, the actress replied that she didn’t, believing everything happened at the right time. She fondly remembers and cherishes her years performing in theater.

As she nears her 97th birthday, the Oscar-nominated star shared that she plans to continue to work.

She recently told Bustle that growing older naturally affects your physical abilities, but she remains passionate about her work and gets thrilled whenever she reads a good script.

She’s already worked on several projects, and is currently finishing a short film called ‘It Happened One Night’.
