Britain’s Got Talent star who performed in the final alongside David Walliams dies at the age of 51 – as tributes pour in
As a fellow music enthusiast and performer who has shared stages with some of the greats, I cannot help but feel a profound sense of sadness and loss upon hearing about the passing of Will Read. His talent on the drums and vocals, not to mention his infectious energy and charisma, lit up every room he entered.
Britain’s Got Talent star Will Read has died at the age of 51.
On August 7, the musician passed away at his residence in Macclesfield, surrounded by his companion and sibling, after having fought a long struggle.
In 2012, I was famously known for performing on stage with judge David Walliams during the finals of a show on ITV. This was part of our comedy act, The Showbears.
In an unforgettable moment, the team captured everyone’s attention by donning dazzling sailor suits. Notably, even David joined them, sporting a similar outfit during his performance on the concluding stage.
In 2013, I became a part of Gloria Estefan’s band during her European tour, visiting places like Belgium and Switzerland among others.
Friends of Will paid their respects on Facebook by posting heartfelt messages such as: “May you rest in peace, Will. You possessed such a radiant spirit.”
One person stated, ‘You were an exceptional friend with a charming personality. We’ll miss you dearly. May your journey be peaceful, my friend.’
On a heart-wrenching day, the 7th of August, 2024, I bear witness to the silent departure of my beloved singer, age 51 and hailing from the charming town of Macclesfield. His final moments were peaceful, as if he was simply drifting off to sleep, surrounded by the melodies that defined his life.
Beloved by Kate as her dear son, adored brother of Tom, treasured brother-in-law of Marianne, and exceptional uncle to Jimmy and Liam.
‘Will was an accomplished musician excelling in percussion, drum and vocals.
“He toured with Gloria Estefan and crusied the world as a musical director in his sucessful career.
“He will be greatly missed by all his family, many friends and colleagues.’
During the second semifinal, the Showbears didn’t advance, but in an astonishing twist, they came back during the finals and joined David on stage.
The hilarious performance sparked a flurry of red buzzers from judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell.
