Season four of Bridgerton has arrived, and it’s taking a slightly different approach than previous seasons. While the show is known for its steamy and scandalous moments, things are a bit more subdued this time around. However, don’t worry – this popular Netflix series isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
Showrunner Jess Brownell smartly focused on the unique aspects of this season, which prevents it from feeling repetitive and helps it stand out.
I’m totally hooked on the new season, especially Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha! They’re amazing as Benedict and Sophie, and their story is just so intense and full of longing. It’s fascinating to see the contrast between their worlds. Honestly, while other romances in Bridgerton seemed tricky, this one feels impossible – a relationship between an aristocrat and a maid? It’s way more scandalous than anything we saw with the Viscount and his almost-fiancée’s sister! It really feels like they’re taking things to a whole new level of forbidden love.
What to Read Next
Even though it’s clear from the start that this couple will end up together—it follows the familiar pattern of Bridgerton—the story is still engaging. We’re drawn in by the actors’ ability to portray the characters’ struggle between wanting to believe in a happy ending and fearing disappointment, especially as life keeps throwing obstacles their way. It’s compelling to watch them cautiously hope and then get hurt, creating a realistic emotional journey.
Bridgerton has made no secret about staying true to author Julia Quinn’s Cinderella-style romance.

Forget mice, glass slippers, and fairy godmothers – this story isn’t a traditional fairytale. Instead, a different kind of magic happens when Ha and Thompson act together. Their connection creates a genuine and heartfelt sense of longing between their characters.
The pairing of these characters was a brilliant move, arriving at exactly the right moment to revitalize the show’s flagging romantic storyline and prevent it from becoming stale. It gave Bridgerton a fresh direction when it really needed one.
Though everyone is excited about Sophie and Benedict’s romance, there’s another relationship that will be interesting to watch this season. Actress Adjoa Andoh has suggested that Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Lady Danbury will face some difficulties in the upcoming season four.

Andoh and Rosheuvell demonstrate that profound emotional pain isn’t limited to romantic relationships. Deep friendships can be equally valuable – and vulnerable – and just as compelling to observe.
Sadly though, as many viewers will have anticipated, Lady Whistledown has lost her edge.
Okay, so everyone knows the Bridgerton family is a big deal, right? But finding out Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan) is actually Lady Whistledown? It’s… complicated. It’s not quite the same shock as reading those anonymous gossip sheets, even though it’s the same person writing them! It’s like, knowing the author takes some of the spice away, even if her words are still as cutting as ever.

Sadly, her impact faded quickly and quietly. Despite the show’s efforts, her ideas no longer seem to resonate with anyone, and her writings have become largely forgotten.
Luckily, viewers have Dowager Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) to look forward to this season, as her story is particularly captivating – and that’s all we’ll say about it!
Season four has been engaging so far, largely due to the well-done storyline focusing on the differences between social classes. However, the show still relies on predictable plot points we’ve seen before in Bridgerton, which isn’t a good sign for its long-term potential.

Now that seasons five and six are planned, some fans are worried that Bridgerton might have trouble coming up with a compelling new storyline when the focus shifts to Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd).
It might be too early to make a final decision. We still have the second part of season four to watch, so let’s wait until then before forming a complete opinion.
You can relax knowing the beginning of Sophie and Benedict’s romance is going well. We think you’ll be eagerly waiting to see how they recover from that shocking ending, just like we are!
I’m so excited! The first part of Bridgerton season 3 is already out on Netflix, and the second part dropped on February 26th. If you’re like me and can’t get enough, you can also stream seasons 1 through 3, plus the amazing Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story!
