Bob Mortimer returns in Last One Laughing s2 hailed as “golden” and “brilliant” in first reviews

Bob Mortimer is back to defend his crown as the first reviews land for LOL: Last One Laughing UK season two, and they are glowing. Metro called the new run “golden”, while the Guardian said the opening episodes contained “more brilliant moments than can be mentioned”.

The new season of the show premieres on Prime Video on March 19th. This time, Jimmy Carr hosts while Roisin Conaty joins him to watch a group of comedians—including David Mitchell, Mel Giedroyc, Alan Carr, Romesh Ranganathan, Amy Gledhill, Maisie Adam, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Sam Campbell, and Diane Morgan—try to stay serious for six hours. They’re not allowed to laugh!

Metro really liked the show’s cast, calling it excellent, and declared it one of the best shows on television. They were particularly impressed with Sam Campbell, who they described as an unexpected comedic force – his unpredictable and bizarre jokes kept everyone guessing. They enthusiastically said they were looking forward to more of his chaotic energy.

Okay, so Mortimer’s back, and everyone’s pretty sure he’s still the one to watch. He won the first season, and honestly, he’s just…weirdly good. The Guardian called him a total wildcard – like a Gatling gun of absurdity! His whole thing is keeping a completely straight face, even when he’s clearly cracking up, and it’s so ridiculous that it throws everyone else off their game. Seriously, trying not to laugh at his ‘safety face’ is almost impossible!

One memorable early moment featured Alan Carr, who Metro playfully called “the least straight-faced person in the United Kingdom.” He surprised the audience by inhaling helium from a balloon he’d hidden under his shirt, then jokingly complained that he now sounded like a butcher.

Romesh Ranganathan playfully attacked Jimmy Carr by singing the Bollywood song Kuch Kuch Hota Hai right into his ear, sporting a baseball cap worn backwards. Comedian Greg Campbell chimed in, joining the serenade from the other side.

As a gamer, I’ve been watching this show, and it’s wild! Just when I think I’ve got a handle on who’s going to kill it and who’s going to bomb, the show totally throws me for a loop. Seriously, anything can happen within those four walls – it’s completely unpredictable, which is what makes it so good!

I’m so excited! The first three episodes are coming out on March 19th, then episodes four and five on March 26th, and the final episode on April 2nd. And it’s all going to be on Prime Video, which is awesome!
