Bob Mortimer was among the first to pay tribute to Ted the Dog, who sadly died this week. Ted was a beloved part of the TV show Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, and the team described him as a much-loved friend.
In 2013, a six-month-old Patterdale Terrier was rescued from a Surrey animal shelter and went on to live with Lisa Clark, the executive producer of the TV show Gone Fishing.
The BBC series, which began in 2018, follows Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse as they contemplate life after facing health challenges. They travel throughout the UK, fishing in beautiful locations along the way.
I first met Ted back in season three, way back in 2020, and he’s been a main character ever since! He quickly became one of my absolute favorites, and I’m so glad to hear he’ll be popping up in at least one episode of the upcoming ninth season.
Mortimer expressed deep sadness, describing his beloved Ted as a wonderful companion and a true friend. He said he would miss him terribly, and also acknowledged a ‘boss’ he’d be missing. Whitehouse added that Ted was truly one of a kind.
