Summary

  • BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad have joined forces for a hyper-limited “RR Edition” capsule, bridging the gap between the M2 Coupe and the brand’s premier superbikes
  • Capped at just 10 units strictly for the South African market, the M2 RR Edition flexes exclusive Black Sapphire Metallic paint, a lowered M Performance suspension setup, and bespoke aerodynamic enhancements
  • The matching two-wheel counterparts — the S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR — mirror the menacing aesthetic with Black Storm Metallic finishes, red accents, and Akrapovič exhausts, with the flagship M 1000 RR M2 Edition commanding R882,100

BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad South Africa have teamed up for a special release: a very limited collection of matching cars and motorcycles. The collection includes the BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition, along with corresponding versions of the S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR superbikes. Available only in South Africa, just 10 of each model will be produced, making them highly desirable for collectors. This release highlights the shared performance heritage between BMW’s car and motorcycle racing teams.

The highlight of the collection is the M2 RR Edition, a striking coupe finished in a dark Black Sapphire Metallic. It boasts an even more aggressive look thanks to a range of M Performance upgrades installed at the factory. These include a suspension with vibrant red springs that lowers the car by 20mm, and staggered 20- and 21-inch Jet Black M Performance wheels. The car’s sporty appearance is further enhanced by aerodynamic improvements like a front splitter with red detailing, a roof spoiler, and a fixed rear wing featuring a red stripe.

The M2 RR Edition’s interior maintains its performance-focused design. It features unique black and red upholstery, and a red marker at the top of the steering wheel helps drivers stay oriented during fast driving. A sunroof is also included as a standard feature. To appeal to true driving enthusiasts, only five of the ten cars will have a six-speed manual transmission, while the other five will have an eight-speed automatic. Despite high demand, those hoping to own one will need to wait, as deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The S 1000 RR M2 Edition and M 1000 RR M2 Edition motorcycles take the bold styling of the car and apply it to high-performance track bikes. Both feature a Black Storm Metallic finish with striking red accents. The S 1000 RR uses red detailing on its bodywork and seat. The higher-spec M 1000 RR goes further, adding red highlights to its carbon fiber wheels, aerodynamic wings, and fuel tank. Both models are equipped with standard Akrapovič exhaust systems, giving them a sound that matches the car.
