Blondie’s Debbie Harry, 79, reveals why she doesn’t regret not having children
Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry has revealed she has no regrets about not having kids.
The artist, aged 79, confessed that she might explore the celebrity dating platform Raya, and furthermore shared with The Times of London her lack of regret concerning not having children.
The experienced rocker expressed, “I believe I wouldn’t have made a good parent,” adding, “Perhaps there might have been exceptions.
The Call Me singer stated, “I respect everyone who takes on the challenge of raising a family, yet it seems to hold no significance for me personally. Perhaps there’s an essential component that’s absent in my genetic makeup.
The artist did not have children biologically but she managed to show any motherly instincts towards her godchildren, who are the daughters of her partner Chris Stein, aged 75.
The Hairspray actress also dotes on her dogs, two Japanese Chins, whom she walks for exercise.
Harry, having been placed up for adoption at just three months old, realized from an early stage that a conventional lifestyle wouldn’t suit her.
‘I wanted to get out in the world,’ she said.
Perhaps, if I had experienced deep, passionate love, I might have chosen to settle, but that wasn’t my reality. Instead, I was driven by ambition.
Looking back, she feels confident that her parents would be proud of the end result, despite a few challenging periods that were visible to others.
She said, “They felt proud that I accomplished something as they had only perceived me as a substance abuser.
The singer admitted, “It seems I struggled with drug addiction, but I found recovery in 2011. Yet, even amidst that, I managed to create music, which somehow made everything alright.
‘I think they’d be happy with the way my life turned out.’
As she looks forward to turning 80, the Heart of Glass artist is learning about acceptance.

She once mentioned that, in her mind, she always felt like she was 25 years old, and I’m similar. However, constantly dwelling on this idea might lead to problems, she cautioned.
‘I don’t really want the same kind of life I did when I was younger. I’ve done that!’
The charm of growing older is that you gain wisdom, understanding, and a wealth of experiences that reside deep within you. But does this mean I should shun youthful adventures like partying every night?
The “One Way or Another” vocalist, who emerged during the time of sex, drugs, and rock music, has managed to stay sober throughout her career, yet certain aspects remain constant.
‘I’m pretty clean,’ she said, ‘But I have a dirty mind.’
