Blackstone Shocks Wall Street with $1M Bitcoin ETF Investment!
On a global scale, Blackstone, known as the biggest manager of alternative assets, boasting approximately $1.2 trillion in managed assets, is stepping into the crypto realm by making investments in Bitcoin-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
In a document submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 20, the company disclosed these investments:
or more informally,
On May 20, the company made public its investments as part of a submission to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Here are the details:
- The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) consists of 23,094 shares that are valued at approximately $1.08 million.
- ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) has 9,889 shares worth about $181,166.
- Bitcoin Depot Inc. (BTM) has 4,300 shares totaling $6,300.
The investments were carried out by Blackstone’s Multi-Strategy Fund (BTMIX), managing approximately $2.63 billion in assets. This investment includes the acquisition of 23,094 shares from BlackRock’s Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), currently worth more than $1.08 million.
As a crypto investor, it’s clear to me that the shift in Blackstone’s stance towards digital assets is significant. Historically, I’ve noticed the firm has been hesitant about cryptocurrencies. Back in 2019, their CEO, Stephen Schwarzman, expressed skepticism about Bitcoin, preferring centralized currencies and expressing difficulty in understanding the underlying technology. However, recent moves suggest a change of heart.
This move follows the institutional acceptance trend of the Bitcoin ETF trend.
Starting from April 9, 2025, the BlackRock IBIT ETF has experienced continuous investment for 20 consecutive trading days, with a total inflow exceeding $46.1 billion.
