- Metaplanet is so focused on Bitcoin, they might as well change their name to “Bitplanet”.
- They’ve got 6,796 BTC now, and oh, they also issued $15 million worth of zero-percent bonds… because why not?
So, Metaplanet (yep, that’s a real company—don’t laugh) just dropped their Q1 2025 earnings. And guess what? They’re up a cool 8% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) and 943.9% year-over-year (YoY). Must be nice to be doing *that* well, huh?
According to the company’s big announcement (not like they’re bragging or anything), 88.1% of their revenue is coming from Bitcoin option sales. The other 11.9%? A little from their hotel business, which, by the way, took a tiny dip. Yeah, guess the hotel business isn’t exactly booming these days.
Oh, and here’s the kicker: At the end of Q1, Metaplanet had about 4,046 BTC. But wait—hold your applause—they now own 6,796 BTC. That’s a 95.6% increase in Bitcoin yield in *one* quarter. Someone call the Guinness Book of World Records—this company is on fire.
Bitcoin Is the New Everything, Apparently
As Coinpedia so helpfully pointed out, Metaplanet has become a Bitcoin magnet, attracting institutional investors from all over the world (including some of the ones who apparently believe in their “strategy”—whatever that means). Their goal? To hit 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025. Because, sure, why not aim for the moon?
Just this week, they bought 1,241 more BTC for about ¥18.4 billion. And they didn’t stop there—last week they issued $21.25 million in 0% ordinary bonds to fund the next BTC shopping spree. Who needs actual interest rates when you’re buying Bitcoin, right?
And don’t worry, they just issued $15 million more in 0% bonds. Because why not? It’s just another day at the office when you’re playing with a pile of digital gold.
