It’s hard to pinpoint one unique element of Big Little Lies. The show presented a captivating mystery, gradually revealing clues each week, and was based on Liane Moriarty’s novel. It also featured a stellar cast, including Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz, and looked beautiful thanks to the direction of Jean-Marc Vallée. While the first season felt particularly special, several shows since then have managed to create a similar captivating atmosphere.
I’ve noticed a real trend in thrillers lately – they’re not about huge explosions or a ton of violence. Instead, they’re really good at drawing you in by seeming totally ordinary. These stories focus on what could actually happen with your neighbors, which is what I find so fascinating. And with all the true-crime shows out there that feel almost like fiction, Peacock’s All Her Fault really grabbed me – it’s just so compelling!
Like the first season of Big Little Lies, All Her Fault is a quick, eight-episode watch that wraps up a full story, though it does leave a few things unanswered.
Every Parent’s Worst Nightmare
Inspired by Andrea Mara’s novel, the movie All Her Fault expertly builds suspense like many great domestic thrillers. It starts with an ordinary task – a mother going to pick up her son – and introduces a small, unsettling change that quickly leads to mounting tension. Wealthy Marissa Irvine (played by Sarah Snook) goes to collect her son from a playdate, but the mother at the house claims she doesn’t know either him or Marissa.
Marissa then reaches out to the police and the people she trusted most, but the investigation quickly becomes much more complex and disturbing than she ever expected.
Similar to Big Little Lies, All Her Fault truly shines thanks to its talented cast. The series received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Limited Series, and Laura Snook herself was also nominated. The show also features strong performances from Dakota Fanning, Jake Lacy, Jay Ellis, and Michael Peña.
‘All Her Fault’ Could Still Get a Season 2

Peacock
It’s tough to end a show that’s been praised by critics, won awards, and generated a lot of excitement. After the first season of Big Little Lies covered all the material from the original book, a second season was created when Liane Moriarty and David E. Kelley teamed up, even though there wasn’t a planned continuation. While the second season was still generally well-received and earned award nominations, it didn’t generate quite the same level of enthusiasm as the first.

The first season of All Her Fault covered everything from the book, leaving little room for a natural continuation. However, showrunner Megan Gallagher previously told Collider that she had ideas for a second season.
That sounds great, and I’d definitely be on board! Right now, though, I can only say we’re really excited for everyone to start watching Season 1.
Although many viewers would welcome another season, the story feels complete and well-concluded within these eight episodes, which is also a good thing.
