Beverly D’Angelo, 74, starred in the Vacation films with Chevy Chase and had kids with Al Pacino… see her now

Beverly D’Angelo, 74, was a popular movie and TV star in the 1970s and 1980s.

The actress grew up in Ohio then worked as a singer before starring in Broadway shows.

After that, she found success in Hollywood, most notably starring as Ellen Griswold in the popular National Lampoon’s Vacation movies alongside Chevy Chase.

The series includes five movies: the original from 1983, followed by National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985), National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), Vegas Vacation (1997), and Vacation (2015).

And the pinup also had two kids with her longtime boyfriend Al Pacino.

The actress was spotted in Los Angeles last month with her friend, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Here’s a recent look at her…

She was born in Columbus, Ohio, where she attended Upper Arlington High School in Upper Arlington.

She began her career as a singer, initially performing backup vocals with rockabilly artist Ronnie Hawkins and his band, The Hawks. Later, after leaving Hawkins, the members of The Hawks formed a new group called The Band.

She still sings now as in December she crooned her way through a benefit concert in Beverly Hills.

Then came acting on Broadway.

The beauty starred in Rockabye Hamlet, a musical based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, in 1976.

Then she went to the small screen with the TV mini-series Captains And The Kings in 1976.

Her first film role was a small part in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall in 1977.

She then appeared in major films like Every Which Way But Loose, Hair, and Coal Miner’s Daughter.

I’ll never forget when she really hit it big – it was in 1983, playing Ellen Griswold alongside Chevy Chase in ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’. That role was what everyone started to know her for, and I was instantly hooked!

She reprised this role in four Vacation sequels.

In the 1980s, she had acting gigs in the films Maid to Order (1987) and High Spirits (1988);.

In the 1998 crime drama American History X, she portrayed Doris Vinyard, the mother of Edward Norton’s character.

Oh my gosh, and then came all these amazing TV movies! I was obsessed with ‘Slow Burn’ from ’86, and ‘Hands of a Stranger’ the next year was just as gripping. Then ‘Judgment Day: The John List Story’ in ’93 totally blew me away – seriously unsettling! And ‘Menendez: A Killing in Beverly Hills’ in ’94? I watched that one a million times. Don’t even get me started on ‘Sweet Temptation’ from ’96, it was the perfect guilty pleasure!

D’Angelo was a recurring cast member in the 2000s, playing lawyer Rebecca Balthus on the TV show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

She voiced Lurleen Lumpkin, a country singer, on The Simpsons.

Between 2005 and 2011, D’Angelo was on the HBO show Entourage, where she played the character Barbara ‘Babs’ Miller, a talent agent.

D’Angelo had a role in the film Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay as Sally in 2008.

She starred as the housemother in the 2008 movie The House Bunny and also had a role in Tony Kaye’s 2009 film, Black Water Transit.

Oh my gosh, back in 2014, D’Angelo actually teamed up with Chevy Chase – can you believe it?! It was for this show called ‘Chev & Bev,’ and the premise was just adorable – a retired couple! Sadly, it never got picked up as a full series, which is a total tragedy because I was so excited about it. I still have some old articles about it saved, honestly!

In 2022, she appeared as Gertrude in the holiday action-comedy Violent Night, alongside David Harbour, known for his role in Stranger Things.

Her love life has made headlines, too.

She dated actor Al Pacino for six years, from 1997 to 2003. They had twins – a boy and a girl – born in January 2001, conceived through in vitro fertilization.

Before that, the actress dated Milos Forman, who directed her in Hair (1979).

In 1981, she married Don Lorenzo Salviati, the son and heir to Don Forese Salviati, the 5th Duke Salviati. His family also holds the titles Marchese di Montieri and Boccheggiano, and is a noble Roman family. His mother was Maria Grazia Gawronska.

She later became involved with Anton Furst, a production designer who won an Academy Award, but he tragically took his own life in 1991.
