Best Builds for Undertaker in Elden Ring Nightreign Forsaken Hollows

In Elden Ring Nightreign, The Undertaker is a powerful class that combines Strength and Faith, and specializes in using hammers. While she might not look like it, she’s a formidable close-combat fighter with access to some of the game’s strongest Incantations, thanks to her stat scaling. She also boasts excellent mobility, helpful abilities, and strong self-buffs. However, to truly succeed with The Undertaker in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll need a solid build and a good grasp of how her abilities work. This guide provides a simple build to help you maximize her potential.

Elden Ring Nightreign Undertaker Abilities

Class Ability Trance — Gain improved damage, attack speed, defense, and running speed. Dodge rill turns into dodge step. Enhanced Trance — Hold the ability button when your Ultimate Art Gauge is full to gain significantly improved Trance buffs. Undertaker automatically dodges attacks when Enhanced Trance is active.
Ultimate Art Loathsome Hex — Quickly fly toward a target and deal high damage.
Passive Confluence — Allies who use their Ultimate Art lets you use your own Ultimate Art for free for a short duration.
Weapon Preference Hammers — Undertaker has a unique moveset for 1H hammers.
Stat Scaling
  • STR: A
  • DEX: D
  • INT: D
  • FAI: A
  • ARC: C

Undertaker’s special ability, Confluence, is really powerful. Whenever anyone uses their Ultimate ability – even your opponents! – you instantly get a free use of your own Ultimate. Because this free charge doesn’t last long, be ready to use Loathsome Hex or Enhanced Trance immediately after Confluence activates.

Undertaker’s Enhanced Trance ability is incredibly useful, making him a strong choice when facing tough bosses or groups of enemies. When activated, it allows him to automatically dodge attacks – similar to how Wylder avoids fatal damage.

Okay, so here’s my take: whenever a really hard fight starts, I always pop Enhanced Trance first. Yeah, it uses up my Ultimate charge, but honestly, in those big battles, I’m using my Ultimate so often that I don’t even have to think about managing my abilities. It just frees me up to focus on actually playing.

Undertaker Ability Tips

  • Hitting enemies 4 times while Trance is active gives you a damage boost. Hitting multiple enemies counts towards this.
  • Loathsome Hex is great for interrupting bosses.
  • Using Trance will fully restore your stamina.

When to Use Enhanced Trance and Loathsome Hex

Because Undertaker can use her special attack more often than other characters in Elden Ring Nightreign, players have a good amount of choice in how they approach combat.

We’ve found that Enhanced Trance is usually better for dealing with difficult fights, whether it’s a single boss or a large group of enemies. Loathsome Hex is more effective as a powerful, quick attack or for bringing teammates back into the fight. Generally, we suggest focusing on Enhanced Trance and using Loathsome Hex with the free ultimate energy you get from Confluence. However, if your team frequently falls, or if you can reliably interrupt important boss attacks with it, then Loathsome Hex might be a better choice.

Best Undertaker Weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign

You’ll want to use hammers when playing as Undertaker for a couple of reasons:

  • Undertaker’s unique hammer moveset is fast, and it has both wide sweeps and strong vertical attacks.
  • Hammers tend to scale well with Strength and sometimes Faith.

Marika’s Hammer is the ideal legendary weapon for the Undertaker class. It’s incredibly effective because its damage increases significantly with both Strength and Faith stats. This weapon deals a massive amount of Holy damage, especially when combined with its unique Ash of War, making it the most powerful choice against bosses vulnerable to Holy attacks, such as Gladius and Tricephalos.

Players won’t always find Marika’s Hammer, but that’s okay! The standard Undertaker’s Hammer is perfectly viable if you fully upgrade it. Plus, a fully upgraded Undertaker’s Hammer opens up more options with certain Relic Rites, giving you greater control over how you build your character.

Considering how quickly Undertaker swings her hammers, she’s a good candidate for status builds.

Best Relic Rites for Undertaker

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some Relic Rites builds for the Undertaker, and I’ve found a few that really work. Two of them are all about making me stronger in a fight – basically, boosting my own damage and survivability. But I also put together one if you’re more into using Incantations – it’s built around that playstyle instead.

Because Relics appear randomly in Nightreign, we’ll focus on listing their stats rather than the Relics themselves whenever it’s helpful.

Status Hammer Build

  • Night of Dregs (Red)
  • Dark Night of Miasma (Green)
  • Night of the Wise

This strategy involves equipping three relics dropped by Nightlords – the Dreglord, Everdark Caligo, and the Sentient Pest. When used together, these relics cause your Undertaker’s Hammer to inflict Scarlet Rot, Frostbite, and Poison with each attack, making it very effective against most enemies. While other relics can create these same effects, these Nightlord relics also offer additional benefits that can significantly boost your character throughout a playthrough.

  • Gain HP recovery when near an enemy with Scarlet Rot
  • Improved Physical Damage Negation
  • Gain increased attack when near enemies with Scarlet Rot and Poison

The Undertaker’s special hammer attacks work great with builds focused on inflicting status effects, and become even more effective when combined with the increased attack speed from Trance.

Trance Spam Build

  • [Undertaker] Executing Art Readies Character Skill
  • Stamina Recovers With Each Successful Attack
  • Strength +3

This setup focuses on maximizing how often you can use Trance. By using a Relic that resets Trance’s cooldown when you use your Ultimate Art, you can use Trance twice in a row, essentially doubling how long it’s active.

Enhanced Trance is powerful, but it uses up your Ultimate Art energy. If you can skillfully combine it with moments when Confluence activates, you’ll find you can use Enhanced Trance more frequently.

When Trance is active, hitting enemies helps you regain stamina, preventing you from running out of energy while attacking. This works especially well with Loathsome Hex, as it can interrupt enemy actions.

Incantation Build

  • Leather Monocle Case
  • Dark Night of the Wise
  • Will of the Balancers

You receive the Leather Monocle Case after finishing Undertarker’s Remembrance. It automatically increases how long spells last and strengthens your physical attacks. Plus, it gives you an additional boost to physical attack whenever you have an active Incantation buff.

The Dark Night of the Wise, earned by defeating Everdark Sentient Pest in Nightreign, significantly boosts your Focus Points (FP) and restores FP as you land consecutive attacks. Will of the Balancers, on the other hand, increases the damage of your melee attacks and skills and provides ongoing FP recovery.

This strategy allows for flexible use of Incantations alongside powerful attack boosts. We especially recommend Incantations that benefit you directly, like Golden Vow, but offensive options such as Order’s Blade are also effective. Don’t forget to equip a strong Seal to maximize your Incantation power.
