The thrilling BBC series The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman, is now available on a new streaming service in the UK. Based on the 1993 novel by John le Carré, the show has moved to a different platform for UK viewers.
The series The Night Manager, adapted by David Farr, is now available on Disney+, but with a limitation. Currently, only season 1 is streaming on Disney+ and Prime Video in the UK. If you want to watch season 2, you’ll need to use BBC iPlayer or Sky.
The show’s first season, which debuted in 2016, centers on Jonathan Pine, played by Tom Hiddleston. Pine is a former soldier now working as a night manager at a high-end Cairo hotel, secretly trying to capture arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). Olivia Colman plays Angela Burr, Pine’s supervisor and head of an international law enforcement agency, and David Harewood appears as Joel Steadman, an agent who assists her.
The second season of the series began airing earlier this year, premiering on BBC One on New Year’s Day. It opens with a jump forward in time, seemingly after Roper’s death. However, after Roper’s former associate, Teddy Dos Santos (played by Diego Calva), eliminates Pine’s entire team, Teddy is forced to go into hiding in Colombia with a new identity. There, he joins a new group of arms dealers and begins to wonder if Roper actually survived.
Season two welcomes several new faces to the cast: Camila Morrone will play Roxana Bolaños, Hayley Squires joins as Sally Price-Jones, an MI6 officer and member of the Night Owls, Indira Varma will portray Mayra Cavendish, the head of the Secret Intelligence Service, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste will play Dr. Kim Saunders, Pine’s psychiatrist.
Season one of The Night Manager received high praise on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a “Certified Fresh” rating with 91% approval from critics based on 67 reviews. The second season was also well-received, scoring 88%.
