BBC’s Kin and Fool Me Once star’s new crime drama gets first look
As a dedicated fan of British television and a connoisseur of gripping dramas, I must say that the latest announcement from Channel 5 has me absolutely thrilled! The Teacher II, featuring none other than Emmett J Scanlan, is set to keep us on the edge of our seats.
In a fresh development, the highly-anticipated crime drama titled “The Teacher,” starring Emmett J Scanlan (previously seen in “Kin” and “Fool Me Once“), has unveiled a sneak peek at its upcoming project.
In the forthcoming series, serving as a continuation from the 2022 season with Sheridan Smith in the lead role, we’ll explore the story of Kara Tointon, a teacher who finds herself entangled in a complex tapestry of desire and deception following a student’s tragic murder.
Prior to the television series launching this year, the initial images have been unveiled by Channel 5 featuring Tointon, Scanlan, and Will Mellor (known for their roles on Coronation Street and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps). All three actors are depicted in their respective characters.
The plot of “The Teacher II” revolves around Dani, a devoted teacher who finds great fulfillment in her profession. She’s not just a teacher, she’s a guide and an inspiration to her students. However, her personal life, specifically her marriage, is less harmonious. It lacks the depth and passion of true intimacy and shared desire.
As someone who has navigated through my fair share of impulsive affairs, I can attest to their allure at the onset and the chaos that ensues as they spiral out of control. In a similar scenario, Dani found herself entangled in an impromptu relationship with a colleague, initially satisfying her emotional needs. However, it didn’t take long for the situation to turn sour.
As ominous events unfold, she’s compelled to deceive and soon watches her life unravel. Desperate to correct the mistakes she partially contributed to, she puts everything on the line.
The photos were revealed together with a variety of Channel 5 series, including “All Creatures Great and Small,” “The Wives,” “The Hardacres,” “Ellis,” and “Dalgliesh.” These shows were all previewed by the channel as part of their upcoming Fall schedule.
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’m part of the team at Channel 5, where the air is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming Autumn lineup. I, Sebastian Cardwell, Head of Drama and Deputy Chief Content Officer, can’t wait for our viewers to sink their teeth into a series of fresh, gripping new shows that we’ve carefully curated!
In his words, “You’ll find a variety of detective mysteries, nail-biting dramas, suspenseful psychological thrillers, and a stellar cast of British actors bringing these tales to vivid reality. There’s truly something intriguing for every taste.”
The Teacher II airs on Channel 5 later this year.
