The popular drama Atonement, featuring Brenda Blethyn and many other well-known British actors, will soon be removed from BBC iPlayer. You have 19 days left to watch the 2007 film – which is based on Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name – for free on the streaming service.
The film Atonement, set in the mid-1930s, stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy as Cecilia Tallis and Robbie Turner, a couple whose love story is tragically cut short when Robbie is wrongly accused of a crime.
The movie features a stellar cast, including Imelda Staunton as Robbie’s mother, Saoirse Ronan as Cecilia’s sister Briony, and Vanessa Redgrave portraying the adult version of Briony.
The film also features Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Mays, Juno Temple, and Gina McKee in supporting roles. Joe Wright directs, having previously worked with Keira Knightley on Pride & Prejudice, and Christopher Hampton wrote the script.
I was so thrilled when Atonement came out – it really deserved all the recognition it got! It won Best Film at the BAFTAs and Best Drama at the Golden Globes, which was amazing. And can you believe it was nominated for seven Oscars? Seriously a fantastic movie.
