- Apparently, you can now borrow and lend euros and dollars… in crypto land. Don’t ask me why.
- Uniswapās getting involved, because of course it is. Flowdeskās there to, you know, *manage* things.
Right. Societe Generale – yes, that Societe Generale – decided their digital thingy, SG-FORGE, needed a bit of DeFi action. Theyāve unleashed their euro and dollar stablecoins. Because obviously. Itās all veryā¦ official. š A press release was involved. Tuesday, naturally.
Basically, they’re putting EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) and USD CoinVertible (USDCV) onto Morpho and Uniswap. It’s like, “Here are some stablecoins. Go wild. But, you know, *carefully*.” Like they need to tell *us* about careful with crypto. The irony. š They’re trying to spread these digital tokens (value pegged to stuff – amazing, I know) beyond boring old exchanges and brokers.
The idea? 24/7 transactions with assets tied to actual money. Andā¦ *smart contracts* doing all the work. Because humans are clearly too unreliable. Who needs bankers when you’ve got code, am I right?
On Morpho, you can now borrow EURCV and USDCV using crypto likeā¦well, various cryptos. And tokenized money things approved by French finance people. Because regulation. They’ve got this MEV Capital crew watching the vaults, acting like responsible adults making sure things donāt fall apart. More collateral to come, apparently. Progress!
And Uniswap gets a spot market for these bank-issued stablecoins. Flowdesk is there to, again, *manage* things. Stopping you from swapping in and out of EURCV and USDCV? Nope. Helping you do it without any pesky traditional people. How empowering! š¤Ŗ
Look, letās be honest. These are tiny compared to the big players. EURCV’s currently worth $66 million – Circle’s EURC is doing a casual $260 million. And USDCV is a pathetic $32.2 million against Tether’s practically infinite $174.8 billion. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right? Maybe. š¤·
