Bandai Returns to Gundam Unicorn With 3 Master Grade Gunpla Model Kit Releases

Released in the early 2010s, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn is still considered a standout title in the Gundam series. To celebrate its popularity, Bandai has been releasing new model kits for the past fifteen years.

Three new Gundam Unicorn model kits are coming soon, and they’re some of the biggest and most detailed ever released. These kits feature mecha from the classic Universal Century series, including the previously announced Stark Jegan, which comes with lots of weapons. You can pre-order them now, but they won’t ship until around summer.

Gundam Unicorn Lives Again With 3 New Master Grade Model Kits

I recently came across the MG 1/100 GM II Semi-Striker, a new model kit from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. You might recognize it as one of the standard mobile suits seen at the Torrington Base in the anime. What really sets it apart is its Twin Beam Spear – a really cool and memorable weapon. While it’s generally a pretty standard ‘grunt’ unit, it also comes equipped with a shield and a bazooka, making it a solid addition to any collection.

The spear can aim its energy blades sideways or upwards, letting the user attack from different angles. With included waterslide-themed stickers and a desert color scheme, it’s designed to camouflage itself in arid environments.

The MG 1/100 Re-GZ (Unicorn Ver.) kit includes newly designed parts that more closely resemble the mobile suit as it appears in the anime. It’s built with KPS material in the joints and frame, allowing for a wide range of motion. This kit comes with a unique Beam Rifle, along with a shield, four pairs of hands, and two Beam Sabers, highlighting its status as a premium, detailed model, not a standard mass-produced unit.

I’m really excited about these new model kits! The Stark Jegan has been totally updated with new sculpting for the armor and limbs – it looks fantastic. As for prices, the Semi-Striker and Re-GZ are coming in at around $34 and $42 respectively, while the Jegan is a bit more at roughly $53. You can pre-order the Jegan now, and it’s expected to ship in August. The good news is the Semi-Striker and Re-GZ are shipping out much sooner, by June!
