The BAFTA TV Awards took place last night, and the ceremony, as usual, featured a moving tribute to those in the television industry who have passed away. The In Memoriam segment honored both on-screen talent and the people who worked behind the scenes with a special video montage. (You can find a list of the winners here.)
Yesterday, on May 10th, Greg Davies hosted a ceremony where AURORA performed her song ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’. The song was featured in the drama Adolescence last year.
The show featured a diverse group of personalities, including relationship expert Mel Schilling from Married at First Sight, music icon Ozzy Osbourne, bestselling novelist Jilly Cooper (author of Rivals), Kim Woodburn, and actor Derek Martin, best known for his role in EastEnders.

Some viewers noticed that the In Memoriam segment seemed to leave out a significant figure who recently passed away: the beloved Catherine O’Hara.
One social media user questioned why Catherine O’Hara wasn’t included in the segment honoring celebrities who have died, while another wondered if she had simply been overlooked.

Some people were quite upset, with one calling the mistake a “massive error.” Another expressed their frustration with a strong exclamation, questioning how Catherine O’Hara could be left out and calling the oversight “very poor.”
Annie O’Hara is a familiar face from television shows like Schitt’s Creek, The Studio, and The Last of Us. She also appeared in popular films such as Beetlejuice and Home Alone, and was recently honored with a tribute during the In Memoriam segment at the BAFTA Film Awards in February.

James Van Der Beek and Eric Dane weren’t part of the main Film Awards video, but they were honored during last night’s In Memoriam segment.
BAFTA has traditionally highlighted actors in either its TV or Film awards montages, but not both. For example, Bernard Cribbins appeared in the TV montage while Bob Hoskins was featured in the Film one. However, this practice consistently upsets fans who believe stars successful in both television and film deserve recognition in both montages.
BAFTA typically features individuals in televised obituaries only once. Because so many deserving people need to be remembered, the organization explained in 2015 that they have to make tough choices about which ceremony each person is included in.
Sources at Digital Spy confirm this practice continues today. BAFTA also has a dedicated online section, ‘In Memory,’ to honor all individuals from the industry, including those not featured in the televised highlights reel.
During last night’s award show, Seth Rogen acknowledged O’Hara while accepting his award for The Studio. He dedicated his Best International award to her, saying she was incredibly important to everyone involved.
The BAFTA TV Awards can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
