Avowed Cross-Buy Feature Explained – Supported Platforms Confirmed

Announced is the upcoming RPG from Obsidian, set to launch on various platforms and the Xbox Game Pass service for both PC and consoles. This is the first game from the publisher that offers cross-buy functionality. Differing from Play Anywhere, this feature doesn’t include other stores or clients. Here is information about the cross-buy option for Avowed, as well as the platforms and clients it supports.

Avowed Cross-Buy Feature Explained

Purchasers of Avowed, regardless if it’s through Xbox or Battle.net, can enjoy playing the game across both platforms with just one purchase. In simpler terms, you buy it once, and you can play it on either your Xbox or PC (Battle.net).

  • As long as your Xbox and Battle.net accounts are linked, you will gain access to Avowed on both clients (Xbox App, Battle.net).
  • Additionally, players who have Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership can play on both Battle.net and Xbox by linking their Battle.net and Xbox accounts.
  • Since Avowed has support for Play Anywhere if you buy the game on PC through the Xbox App or the Microsoft Store on console, you will be able to play on both platforms regardless. The cross-buy feature gives you additional access to the Battle.net version on PC.
  • The cross-buy feature does not extend to Steam. It is only supported for the Microsoft Store and Battle.net versions.

In summary, this new component significantly enhances the existing “Play Anywhere” functionality, which is a valuable aspect of various games available on the Xbox marketplace.

Avowed Release Date

Avowed is coming to PC through Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox Series S|X on February 18, 2024.

How to Play Avowed Early

By pre-ordering the Premium Edition of Avowed, you’ll have the opportunity to begin playing the game five days earlier, starting from February 13, 2025. This perk is universal and applies regardless if you’re buying it for PC or consoles. It appears that early access incentives are quite popular with many Xbox releases such as Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle too.

It’s our expectation that this strategy will continue for upcoming updates, as I personally find the Battle.net client more appealing than the Xbox App for my personal use.
