Avowed: Best Fighter Build

Hey there fellow gamer! If you’re itching for some heavy-hitting action, then the Fighter class in Avowed might just be your cup of tea. But remember, to truly shine and not squander those valuable skill points on unnecessary abilities, it’s crucial to have a build that suits your playstyle.

Here’s our guide to creating the best Fighter build in Avowed.

Best Attributes for a Fighter

Initially in the game, you are given 10 allocation points for your character’s attributes, with a limit of 3 points per attribute. From the beginning, it is advisable to invest in both Constitution and Strength for a Fighter, as these attributes will help your character endure more damage and have a higher than typical Health Points (HP) level.

Besides enabling you to hold more items and inflict greater damage, consider allocating some points for both Resilience and Agility too. Resilience is beneficial for maintaining your Stamina, which means you can continue attacking without needing frequent breaks. Lastly, having a high level of Agility ensures you’re not just a stationary tank but also nimble enough to dodge or evade enemy attacks effectively.

Best skills for the Fighter build

As a beginner, focus on learning beneficial abilities for your character, particularly the Fighter. To prolong your gameplay, prioritize Constant Recovery since it restores half of your health. Additionally, Toughness is highly recommended as it enhances your health points significantly. Lastly, consider investing a single point in Charge, which enables you to charge towards opponents and offers additional attack opportunities.

Additionally, while you might not be combining Fighter with other classes, feel free to select abilities from other classes as well. In the game Avowed, experimentation is crucial for creating a well-rounded character, so don’t stick rigidly within your comfort zone.

Here is a breakdown of all the Fighter’ skills.

Skill descriptionLevel requiredTips

Inspiring Triumph20Low priority
Clear Out20High priority

If you prefer your Fighter to have a traditional sword-and-shield setup, enhancing abilities like Shield Bash and Unbreakable is essential. Shield Bash offers a unique attack during defense, while Unbreakable reduces the Stamina consumption when defending yourself.

Contrastingly, Built to Destroy is a versatile ability that not only restores your health when you demolish objects but also amplifies your melee strikes to obliterate entire walls. Quite formidable indeed.

For the last skills, Inspiring Triumph may prove beneficial if you heavily depend on your teammates, however, Fighters tend to charge straight into battle. Instead, it’s advisable to focus more on Clear Out, with its powerful whirlwind attack that effectively clears out most adversaries.

Best skills for a battle mage (fighter wizard)

To ensure your Fighter character can wield magic as well, consider allocating some points into Intelligence initially. Immediately acquiring the Magic Missile ability will provide you with a magical skill from the get-go.

Here are some other skills if you want to build a Fighter Wizard:

  • Magic Missile (Level 1)
  • Wand Mastery (Level 5)
  • Blast / Bounce (Level 10)

If you choose to play a Fighter character, understand that they won’t possess the same magical prowess as a pure Wizard. Given their class limitations, it’s advisable to focus on physical combat instead of relying heavily on spells like Blizzard or Fireball. As a Fighter, you likely won’t accumulate enough magic points to effectively cast such powerful spells.

Instead, opt for some general magic skill attacks like Wand Proficiency. This is particularly beneficial if you’re intending to use a wand alongside your traditional melee weapons. The combination of Blast and Bounce could also be advantageous, but overall, there aren’t many skills we would suggest investing in heavily if your goal is to become a battle mage.

Best skills for a Fighter ranger

Initially, bypass Tangleroot entirely at the beginning, and instead focus on both Survivalist, which enhances healing abilities, and Parry, which offers advantages regardless of whether you use ranged weapons or not. While it is advisable to allocate only a single point to Survivalist, if you prefer engaging enemies in close combat, consider raising Parry up to two or even three points.

Here are some useful Ranger skills for your fighter:

  • Parry (Level 1)
  • Survivalist (Level 1)
  • Arrow Deflection (Level 10)
  • Critical Strike (Level 15)
  • Flurry of Blows (Level 20)

Generally speaking, it’s worthwhile to allocate some skill points to Parry when you get the opportunity. However, unless your character intends to utilize a bow or firearm, it’s best to postpone investing in most Ranger skills until level 10. For instance, Marksmanship is a great choice if you plan on using a bow or gun.

When you advance to level 10, you’ll be able to combine Arrow Deflection with Parry, enhancing the defense of your character significantly. At level 15, you’ll also boost the power of your critical hits, which is advantageous for your Fighter. While Bear Ally can be entertaining, it might be best to avoid using it unless you’re keen on experimenting with it.

For your Fighter’s last two abilities at level 20, we advise primarily using Flurry of Blows as it performs exceptionally well, particularly for a tanky character. On the other hand, Staggering Shot is suggested only if you’ve designed your fighter to be versatile with both melee weapons and ranged equipment like bows and guns.
