Avengers: Doomsday Is Missing 4 Crucial Marvel Legacy Characters

Marvel has built up a lot of trust with audiences, allowing them to bring back even lesser-known characters. Jennifer Garner’s surprise appearance as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine – a role she first played in a 2005 film that wasn’t well-received – generated a lot of excitement. However, Deadpool & Wolverine isn’t the only movie that can feature unexpected cameos.

The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie will be the ultimate test for Marvel’s heroes. They’ll face off against the incredibly powerful Doctor Doom, and it will take a team-up across the entire multiverse to defeat him. The stakes are so high, even the original X-Men from the Fox movies are joining the fight.

It’s not surprising to see Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and the original cast reunited, considering their earlier movies were so well-received. But while many returning heroes have already had their moment, the characters on this list haven’t gotten the same level of attention.

Marvel Legacy Characters That Will Enhance Avengers: Doomsday’s Story

New Goblin

Despite any denials from Marvel, everything suggests Tobey Maguire will reprise his role as Spider-Man in Doomsday. He doesn’t need a lot of screen time to make a difference, as we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home. More importantly, bringing him back offers Marvel a special chance: to reunite the original Peter Parker with an old friend.

In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, Harry Osborn, Peter Parker’s best friend, turned to villainy after mistakenly believing how his father died. He later tried to make amends by assisting Spider-Man in a battle against Venom, but tragically died in the process. With the existence of the multiverse, there’s hope that Peter will get another chance to team up with Harry for one last fight.

Silver Surfer

The Fantastic Four are definitely one of Doctor Doom’s biggest targets. Their battle against him isn’t just about saving the universe; it’s deeply personal – it’s about protecting their family. Doom has his sights set on Franklin Richards, and his intentions are far from good. Luckily, the Fantastic Four have a powerful cosmic friend who can help them.

Shalla-Bal, also known as the Silver Surfer, once saved Earth from destruction in The Fantastic Four: First Steps by sending her old employer, Galactus, through a portal. Although her current location is a mystery, Norrin Radd, another of Galactus’s heralds who survived the events of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, might be able to assist and give Doomsday some much-needed help from two powerful, board-riding allies.

Jean Grey

The Doomsday saga features plenty of mutants, making the decision to exclude Famke Janssen as Jean Grey somewhat odd, especially since her partner, Cyclops (played by James Marsden), is actively involved in the conflict. While Marvel could repeat the storyline of killing off the Phoenix Force wielder, there are compelling reasons to include her in the upcoming team-up movie.

Recent reports suggest Sadie Sink will be portraying a new iteration of Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day film. This move is widely seen as a way to build anticipation for the eventual introduction of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and to highlight the importance of Jean Grey as a character by featuring her prominently in multiple films.

Bullseye

Okay, so Bullseye is definitely not your typical Marvel hero. Honestly, the guy is completely unhinged and will do absolutely anything to take down whoever he’s after. And Mystique isn’t exactly a sweetheart either, but she’s still going to play a role in the upcoming Doomsday event, apparently.

Wilson Bethel’s character would be a great addition to a Doomsday movie because he’d raise the level of danger. If a villain from the TV series is brave enough to fight Doom and his army, it means no one in the entire multiverse can claim they’re too scared to act. Plus, the fact that Punisher is also moving to a big-screen movie with Brand New Day makes it even more likely.
