In the opening scene of the 2022 hit movie Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise’s character, a test pilot, pushed a highly experimental aircraft called the Darkstar to its absolute limit – reaching an incredible speed of Mach 10. Even that wasn’t enough for the thrill-seeking Maverick, and he continued to push the plane beyond what it could handle, ultimately causing it to crash and forcing him to eject.

The main highlight of this release is the Equipe trainer, first created by Diadora in 1975 for professional runners. Unlike many retro sneakers being reissued today, the Equipe feels special because it comes from a time before sneakers became primarily a fashion trend – when they were truly focused on athletic performance. Designer Jonathan Anderson has honored the shoe’s original, streamlined running shape while updating it with bold colors and refined details, bringing a modern, fashionable edge to this classic design.
