As an ardent fan who has followed Luke Bradnam’s career since his days reporting weather on Australian beaches, I can hardly contain my excitement! This man has always been the epitome of cool and calm under pressure, and now he’s taking the global stage by storm!

It appears that Luke Bradnam might take over from Colin Jost, who is currently Scarlett Johansson’s husband, as the U.S.’s surfing reporter for the 2024 Paris Olympics, following an unexpected change at the last moment.

Stand-up comedian Colin, aged 42, has been hosting NBC’s live Olympic broadcasts from Tahiti, an island in French Polynesia. However, it’s reported that he has chosen to relinquish his responsibilities.

It appears that Colin, who tied the knot with Scarlett in 2020, is said to have had to return to America, as Australian meteorologist Luke will be stepping in for him during this period.

Television host Luke has previously broadcast live from Teahupo’o on Channel Nine, and he will now serve as the presenter for NBC during the shortboard finals of surfing this coming Sunday.

Luke informed the Sydney Morning Herald that he received a call when the internet connection resumed for surfing, and the message was essentially, “Colin can’t operate it; would you kindly stand in for us?”

‘What the f**k? Sure. Now I’m doing these crosses, they’ve got no idea who I am. I’ve done three crosses already today and I’ve covered the Americans today.’

‘If I don’t get an invite to the NBC Christmas party after this, it won’t be pretty,’ he quipped.

He playfully wondered if American viewers might find it hard to comprehend his Australian accent, expressing astonishment about being given the hosting role.

Luke will have Jack Marriott from Channel Nine as his camera assistant when he continues to cover the Olympic surfing events for NBC.

It’s uncertain what led Saturday Night Live actor, Colin, to decide against continuing as the network’s surfing news presenter.

Nevertheless, the announcement arrives a few hours later, as it’s been confirmed that Colin will be hosting the upcoming spinoff of Jeopardy! titled Pop Culture Jeopardy! instead.

The show, set to stream on Amazon Prime Video, will begin production next month, Variety reported.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Luke and Colin’s representatives for comment.

Colin’s entertaining presentation style, filled with witty remarks and funny behavior, has left viewers chuckling during the Olympic coverage.

Additionally, he experienced an injury while surfing in Tahiti prior to the commencement of the Olympics, as he opted to ride a surfboard himself.

During that period, Colin disclosed that he’d endured a painful injury from accidentally kicking his foot onto a jagged coral reef while surfing for the first time.

He shared with NBC that he performed quite well initially, but after the first wave, he found himself walking on a coral reef. Essentially, he was like an expert on coral reef safety, albeit without protective footwear, which resulted in him getting some minor scratches.

Additionally, he posted a picture of his injured, swollen toes wrapped in bandages on Instagram, complete with a light-hearted comment about his mishap in the caption.

‘Although it could potentially lower my WikiFeet rating, I’ve just landed in Tahiti for the Surfing Olympics and the reef seemed thrilled to meet me! Here’s a glimpse of my feet at the Paris 2024 event #paris2024 #showfeet,’ he quipped.

After his injury, he made a broadcast while going shoeless, and disclosed that he’s paid several visits to the medical station since then.

He posted on Instagram that it’s a clear sign of success when he has visited the Olympic medical center more times than any of the competing athletes.
