In Atomfall, not all leads result in significant breakthroughs. At times, they function as trail markers guiding you towards vital individuals or places that ultimately unveil fresh leads for exploration.

In essence, the Grendel’s Head lead doesn’t necessarily uncover earth-shattering discoveries or essential items. However, being there gives you an opportune moment to serendipitously find more crucial leads in Atomfall.

This guide has everything you need to know about completing the Grendel’s Head lead in Atomfall.

Starting the Grendel’s Head Lead

First, go to the pub called Grendel’s Head in Wyndham Village. Inside, look for Alf Buckshaw. Talking to him will also start the Windfall Shipment quest, but this guide is about the Grendel’s Head quest.

To initiate the sequence, engage in conversation with Alf by selecting specific dialogue choices. Keep in mind that this is your initial interaction with him.

  • Vague: I’m just wandering around, getting my bearings.
  • Surprised: It’s a bit of a shock. I’m surprised anyone’s still alive.
  • Helpful: Why… is there something you need doing?
  • Evasive: I haven’t seen them to do anything especially good or bad.
  • Helpful: If I can help the village, I will.

Alf will then tell you to visit several people: Nora and Eric, both of whom are in Skethermoor.

Alf’s Request: Collect a Message From Nora

Make your way to Nora’s barn situated in Skethermoor, approximately at coordinates 41.8 E, 77.5N. Despite the locked entrance, remember that Nora isn’t fond of visitors, so don’t be discouraged by the locks.

Circulate to the rear area and keep an eye out for any pitfalls. In due course, you’ll spot a white barn there. Proceed inside and interact with Nora. Select these conversation choices:

Or, in a more conversational tone:

Swing by the backside and watch your step for traps. You’ll eventually come across a white barn. Go inside and chat up Nora. Opt for these dialogue selections:

  • Honest: Relax! Alf the pub landlord told me where to find you.
  • Helpful: Yes, I’m here to collect it from you.

After Nora gives you the message that needs to be delivered back to Alf, you’re free to continue conversing with her, haggle, or exchange goods. When you’re finished, remember to make your way towards Eric next.

Alf’s Request: Collect a Message From Eric

Caution: Approaching the area! You’ll come across the Protocol Field Station which is heavily guarded. At coordinates 41.8E, 76.5N, there’s a junction where going south will lead to the Field Station. Instead, keep moving north, circling the hill, and you’ll steer clear of it.

Here, you’ll find multiple greenhouses. The one you’re looking for is located at coordinates 43.2E, 74.9N. However, do be cautious, as there’s a potential danger lurking in the entrance.

Step inside, where you’ll encounter a deceased individual. It turns out this person is Eric. Fortunately, the murderer did not take his personal item with him, so we can seize it and deliver it back to Alf.

Return to Alf at Grendel’s Head in Wyndham Village

As I clutch my precious notes, it’s high time I made my way to Alf. Guess it’s back to the heart of Wyndham Village for me. Gotta find myself a cozy corner at Grendel’s Head, knowing old Alf’ll be there, waiting for this gamer with a quest.

Share the updates with Alf, including the messages, and the situation should clear up. Regrettably, one of those messages involves news about Eric, which unfortunately isn’t good. However, you can choose to tread gently in your delivery, perhaps by indirectly alluding to the matter without explicitly stating it. Nonetheless, Alf’s response may still remain unchanged.

Alf will reward you with a Molotov Cocktail for all your troubles.
