Are you a fan of the Carrie movie? There's a series adaptation in the works at Prime Video!

As a seasoned gamer who has survived countless nights of sleepless terror thanks to Stephen King’s chilling tales, I must say, I am both excited and apprehensive about the upcoming TV adaptation of ‘Carrie’. Having grown up on Brian De Palma’s 1976 masterpiece, I can only hope that Mike Flanagan, the mind behind ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, does justice to this classic.

Stephen King has given us many outstanding horror stories, and several of these have been brilliantly adapted. When discussing Carrie, the focus is traditionally on the 1976 film. However, this might shift to the forthcoming TV series streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the near future.

Absolutely, Carrie will be getting another makeover. The mastermind behind “The Haunting of Hill House,” Mike Flanagan, is taking the helm for this new series. This news sparks excitement as we anticipate the development of a series based on the same-titled novel and the creation of “The Midnight Club.

What to expect in this Carrie adaptation

As reported by TVLine, Flanagan takes on the roles of showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the upcoming series, with his partner Trevor Macy also serving as an executive producer. The series will consist of eight episodes, following a structure similar to Flanagan’s Netflix productions.

The series will be a timely retelling of the story. Carrie White has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother controlling all. However, she soon has to face high school after the sudden death of her father.

High school can be challenging and filled with concerns for many students, as they navigate their identities during this period. However, it becomes even more complex for individuals who lack previous experiences interacting with peers of a similar age group.

Carrie must grapple with these new circumstances, though they’re not independent issues. Upon discovering her psychic abilities, she’ll have to learn how to manage them carefully to prevent further social isolation.

When to expect Carrie on Prime Video

It’s unclear exactly when the series will debut, but it seems likely that it might air during Amazon’s 2026 season. With the writers’ room now active, it’s evident that Flanagan is eager to dive into production.

We’re definitely keeping an eye out for potential cast members. Flanagan often prefers to collaborate with individuals he’s worked with before, so there’s a possibility we might see Kate Siegel, Carla Gugino, Victoria Pedretti, and Rahul Kohli involved in the project.
