In this review, I tested out Archero 2 on both the Motorola G32 and iPhone 13, accumulating a total of 20 hours of playtime across these devices. This extensive playtime enabled me to delve deep into the game’s features and understand its offerings comprehensively, thus equipping me with a strong basis for an in-depth assessment. Experience a similar yet refreshed gameplay and defeat the Demon King

In the sequel to Archero, titled Archero 2, an intriguing development unfolds in the narrative as the Lone Archer is deceived by the Demon King, turning from a valuable ally into your adversary. The game amps up the excitement with quicker-moving gameplay and a redesigned combat system. It also offers an abundance of content such as 50 main Chapters and 1,250 levels within the Sky Tower.

The game’s play was incredibly enjoyable and captivating; it draws you in swiftly and could easily become hard to put down. However, players may find it more demanding as the difficulty level has been stepped up – the chapters or levels are tougher this time around due to an increasing number of monsters. You’ll need to think fast and make smart decisions about your abilities and skills, or risk getting stuck on the same chapters until you conquer them successfully.

A positive aspect is that the range of skills and capabilities has expanded, but you’ll still need a bit of luck with the Random Number Generator (RNG) to progress through the chapters. Occasionally, you might find yourself with skills that aren’t ideal for taking down large groups of enemies, making even the initial waves and floors challenging. I can’t stand those Skeleton Archers, and the colossal Skeleton Boss, their arrows seem to inflict an excessive amount of damage without justification and they move at an unreasonably fast pace.

Archero 2 offers a wide variety of content and various game modes

The game provides an array of engaging gameplay options such as:

1. Defense Mode: In this mode, your objective is to conquer a series of 50 waves, complete with numerous exhilarating boss encounters.

2. Survival Mode: This mode presents a timed challenge, typically lasting for approximately 6 to 7 minutes.

3. Room Mode: Here, you must progress through 50 floors that are filled with diverse monsters and Boss levels.

As a dedicated gamer, I find myself immersed in the event section quite frequently, exploring realms such as the Sky Tower, Arena, Seal Battle, Gold Cave, and Rune Ruins. When I hit a roadblock within a specific chapter, this is where I come to conquer a few floors of the colossal Sky Tower, boasting an impressive 1250 levels. The thrill of the challenge keeps me coming back, as it becomes increasingly difficult as you climb higher – for example, from floor 26 and beyond, the likelihood of red heart drops decreases significantly.

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this game has added a unique twist to my gaming routine. The additional layer of challenge and entertainment it provides is truly commendable. I find myself constantly drawn back into its world, not just because of the thrill of competition but also due to the well-designed leaderboards where I can showcase my skills.

The Arena, with its auto-battle feature, offers a more laidback experience that lets me unwind and still make progress in climbing the leaderboard. It’s perfect for those times when I want to relax but still maintain my competitive edge.

The Seal Battle mode is an absolute delight. It provides a fun, fast-paced diversion where I get two minutes to dish out as much damage as possible to a random boss, all while earning XP to unlock new abilities. This stands in stark contrast to the Chapter Modes, which require a more strategic approach.

I have played many games in my life, but this one stands out because of its engaging gameplay, captivating characters, and adorable Sprites. It’s a testament to the creativity and dedication of the developers that they have managed to create such a delightful experience for gamers like myself. I can’t wait to see what new updates and challenges await me in this enchanting world!

The home screen itself is a visual delight with its charming icons and artwork. However, what truly captivates me is the Artifact Spin screen, undeniably the cutest aspect of this game. Additionally, they’ve included cute animations and characters in both the Rune Workshop and Blacksmith. I find myself drawn to the overall adorable theme of the game, with its appealing character designs, engaging in-game animations, and visually vibrant elements that grab your attention at first glance.

Habby has truly outdone themselves in creating this sequel; the diverse range of creatures, challenging Boss Fights, the Demon, Valkyrie, Angel, and Roulette, along with everything in between, all appear stunning and contribute to an enjoyable gaming experience. In my view, a game’s graphics don’t always need to be ultra-realistic or photorealistic to be entertaining. Instead, you can have something like this – basic yet vivid visuals with an endearing appeal that effectively maintains your interest.

The UI and controls are simple yet well-designed

In Archero 2, the controls and user interface are thoughtfully designed and straightforward, fitting seamlessly with the game’s charming cartoon aesthetic. The interface is streamlined and organized, allowing effortless navigation through menus, settings, and options, without feeling overloaded as can sometimes happen in other games.

The icons are adorably crafted, unique, and straightforward, making it effortless to locate essential areas. For example, navigating to the ‘Settings’ area is simple by finding the big shield icon, which houses your gear, characters, and runes. Similarly, you can easily spot the ‘Collectibles’ section with the large trophy-like icon, where you will find your ‘Talent Cards’ and ‘Artifacts’.

With its intuitive layout, this game becomes even more enjoyable since it frees up time spent navigating intricate menus, allowing players to jump straight into the high-speed action. The controls are also user-friendly; moving your character is as easy as dragging your cursor, staying still to fire, and swiping around to maneuver and dodge enemies and their attacks. This results in a highly addictive and effortless gaming experience.

IAPs tempt you to make your aim better with gears and gift packs

In Archero 2, the game offers in-app purchases that can provide an edge in gameplay, a method known as pay-to-win. This may encourage players to spend money to gain additional advantages. The items available for purchase include Chapter Gift Packs, special booster packs, Diamonds, and three Newbie Packs. Additionally, the shop offers three types of Gear Chests – Silver, Obsidian, and Chromatic – which you can spin for a chance at improved equipment.

Furthermore, you can also wish for Artifacts, and buy daily, weekly, or even monthly special packs. To add to this, a battle pass is also available to make your progress smoother.

You have two options: Purchase either the ‘Advanced’ or ‘Luxury’ Pass. Both provide a range of beneficial rewards including ‘coins’, ‘diamonds’, ‘chest keys’, ‘ruin shovels’, ‘gear scrolls’, ‘artifact shards’, and ‘wish coins’. These items are also obtained for free by watching ads, through the free pass and other mini-events. As you play this game, it encourages you to buy various packs and items as you advance, particularly the costly booster packs.

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this game offers both free and paid options for play. While it’s true that you can enjoy the game without spending a dime, it requires a significant investment of time to conquer each chapter and Sky Tower floor. On the other hand, I find the Permanent Ad-Free Card to be a worthwhile purchase. The ad-free gameplay experience and extra daily free diamonds make the game more enjoyable and less frustrating. However, the other purchasable cards are optional and you can still have a great time without them. In my opinion, this game offers a good balance between free and paid content, making it accessible to players with varying levels of commitment and resources.

Final Verdict

In simpler terms, Archero 2 combines elements of casual role-playing games with challenging aspects similar to roguelikes. It offers multiple play modes and a range of exciting features that make it hard to put down, much like its original version.
