Antonio Banderas gushes over ex-wife Melanie Griffith following their cozy dinner in Beverly Hills

Antonio Banderas shared a seldom-seen photo on Instagram Monday morning, showing him with his former wife, Melanie Griffith, after they had a relaxed dinner together over the weekend.

The 65-year-old Spanish actor was married to the Hollywood actress from 1996 to 2015.

The actor known for playing The Mask of Zorro praised Dakota Johnson, whose mother is actress Tippi Hedren, known for her role in The Birds.

They were just sitting there, all cozy on a sofa, and laughing together – it was the sweetest thing ever! I’ve been shipping them forever, and this just confirms everything. They are parents to 29-year-old Stella Banderas, who appeared in the photo with her husband, Alex Gruszynski.

This happened shortly after they were spotted leaving Matsuhisa, a Japanese restaurant in Beverly Hills, on Saturday.

They were dressed comfortably and shared a laugh as they strolled along, with their daughter Stella walking right behind them.

The exes appear to have remained close pals after they settled their divorce.

The former couple first connected on the set of the 1995 romantic comedy Two Much. They got married in May 1996 and had their daughter, Stella, in September of the same year.

The actor known for Puss In Boots said he fell in love with the Hollywood legend the moment he saw her at the 1989 Academy Awards.

He remembered the first time he attended the Academy Awards after their film, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, received a nomination. He spotted a blonde woman on the red carpet and recognized her from movies, but couldn’t immediately recall her name.

I was so starstruck when I saw Melanie Griffith that I repeatedly asked Pedro Almodóvar who she was. When he told me it was her, I was completely overwhelmed. Six years later, we ended up getting married.

The blonde beauty tattooed her husband’s name inside a heart on her arm during their marriage.

But the love story came to an end in 2015. 

Melanie and Antonio have announced they are ending their nearly 20-year marriage. In a joint statement, they said the decision was mutual and made with love and respect for each other, their family, and friends, and to cherish the memories they’ve shared.

Banderas has been dating Dutch entrepreneur Nicole Kimpel for the past 12 years. 

Griffith was previously married to Don Johnson, with whom she shares daughter Dakota Johnson, 36. 

The marriage also made her a stepmother to Johnson’s son Jesse Johnson, 43.

And she shares son Alexander Griffith Bauer, 40, with her second husband, Steven Bauer.
