Angela Scanlon apologises after live blunder during Eurovision Song Contest 2026

During the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, Angela Scanlon had to apologize after accidentally swearing. She and co-host Rylan Clark joked that they had gotten carried away with the excitement.

Okay, so the Eurovision Song Contest is happening again! This year marks its 70th anniversary, and it’s being held in Vienna, Austria. They’re doing two semi-finals this week to narrow down the competition, and then the big finale is on Saturday, May 16th – I’m already getting hyped!

The first semi-final happened tonight, where 15 countries performed hoping to earn a place in the final. A total of 20 spots will be decided through the two semi-finals, and five more countries have already qualified automatically.

Poland’s Alicja performed ‘Pray’ near the end of the show. The song includes a rap section where she sings, “Pretty girls rock/ I’ve been working hard, and now I’m succeeding.”

Despite the song playing after the 9pm limit for strong content, Scanlon, who was providing commentary on the BBC broadcast with Clark, apologized to viewers for the use of offensive language.
