The psychological thriller Fonda, starring Andrew Scott and Mia Goth, has added some exciting new actors to its cast. The film is directed by a well-known international director and is expected to be popular when it comes out.
The new movie marks the English-language debut of French filmmaker Justine Triet. She recently won an Oscar in 2024 for Best Original Screenplay for her critically praised film, Anatomy of a Fall.
Okay, so Variety is reporting a bunch of awesome new actors are joining the project! I’m super excited because Marty Supreme’s Odessa A’zion is involved, along with Ewan Mitchell from Wuthering Heights, Cherry Jones who I loved in The Handmaid’s Tale, and Benedict Wong from Weapons. This cast is shaping up to be incredible!

This new cast joins Scott, Goth, Allison Janney, Frank Dillane, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, who were previously announced as part of the project back in January.
The film Fonda is a psychological thriller that unfolds in a confined, almost perfect setting. It explores the fragile nature of sanity as the main character grapples with grief and becomes consumed by obsession, taking viewers on a disorienting and unsettling journey.

So, I just found out that Justine Triet, the director of Anatomy of a Fall (she was even nominated for an Oscar!), actually wrote the screenplay for this new movie, Fonda, all by herself. She’s also producing it with Marie-Ange Luciani and David Thion, and BBC Film is helping to make it happen. Pretty cool to see a director so involved in all aspects of a film!
When mk2 Films announced the project, Managing Director Fionnuala Jamison told Deadline that they believe the psychological thriller has strong potential to be both a critical and commercial success.
Fonda says her new film will be a powerful and intelligent thriller, exploring the complexities of the human mind and delivering a truly memorable cinematic experience.

Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal and CCO of Canal+, praised Justine Triet’s unique filmmaking style and the outstanding cast of Fonda. She expressed excitement about releasing the film in various territories today.
We were immediately captivated by the script and eager to join Justine Triet’s powerful and memorable return to filmmaking.
Andrew Scott has several exciting projects coming up. In addition to Fonda, he’ll be starring in the historical thriller Pressure, which comes out in September. He’s also working on Walk the Blue Fields and Elsinore, where he’ll play Ian Charleson.
Fonda has no release date.
