America Forgets Wallet, Drops $1.6 Trillion – Is That… Bad?

Stop the presses-or just stop them for a bit because, honestly, there’s not much money left to keep them running. The US government has dropped over a trillion dollars more than it picked up, all in the first 10 months of the 2025 fiscal year. If there was a national purse, it would probably be buried under an avalanche of receipts, and someone’s crying softly in the corner. 👜💸

So here’s the Congressional Budget Office waving its latest set of numbers like a slightly nervous magician. Between October 2024 and July 2025, the government spent $5.974 trillion, which sounds impressive until you realize it only managed to collect $4.347 trillion. This means the deficit has ballooned to a spicy $1.626 trillion-and let’s be honest, at this point, it’s basically a group project where everyone forgot to do their part.

“That amount is $109 billion more than the previous year’s deficit. Revenues are up by $263 billion (6%), outlays up by $372 billion (7%). Basically, more coming in, even more flying out-classic.”

(Fun fact: “Fiscal year” is government speak for “that long stretch when we pretend things will balance out until autumn rolls around again,” which starts October 1st, 2024. Set your calendars, binge eat your feelings.)

Big spenders this season: Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Together, they’re throwing a $2.678 trillion party, up by $207 billion from last year’s bash. Apparently, getting older costs more-who knew?

Then, of course, t $847 billion blown just to avoid angry calls from creditors. The national debt stands at $37 trillion, which sounds like a number invented by a toddler who just learned to count but, unfortunately, is painfully real. 🏦🚨

“Net interest payments on the debt jumped by $60 billion (8%), basically because the debt itself is doing its own bulking season.”

The CBO, presumably clutching a cup of coffee and muttering under its breath, estimates a $1.9 trillion budget deficit by the end of FY 2025. Because, you know, why stop now?
