Amazon boss offers James Bond casting update: “It is the dream of a lifetime”

Amazon is giving a quick look at how they’re choosing the next James Bond. After acquiring the famous spy series in 2025, Amazon MGM Studios put Denis Villeneuve in charge of directing the next film, taking over from the previous producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

Steven Knight, the writer behind Peaky Blinders, will be writing the script for the next James Bond film. However, it’s currently unknown who will take over the role of 007 after Daniel Craig’s departure.

Amazon executives recently shared an update on their search for the next James Bond during a presentation at CinemaCon, according to a report in Variety.

Courtenay Valenti, who leads film development at Amazon MGM Studios, acknowledged the widespread anticipation surrounding the casting of the next James Bond. She stated, “I know everyone is eager to find out who will be playing James Bond.”

Valenti explained that combining a hugely popular franchise like Bond with a top-notch creative team – including director Denis Villeneuve, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe, and screenwriter Steven Knight – promises a film that will live up to the Bond tradition.

“That film is coming, and when the time is right, we’ll have much more to share.”

Ever since Daniel Craig finished his run as James Bond with No Time to Die in 2021, there’s been a lot of talk about who will be the next 007.

Knight recently shared that he’s having a great time working on the James Bond script, though he’s keeping the details under wraps. He told BBC Radio 4 he’s thoroughly enjoying the process.
